Title: Inexpensive Adj Scope Rings
Post by: Xraycer on February 08, 2020, 09:53:24 AM
I just came across these on Amazon. Perfect for those with droop issues. Cheap and has really high ratings. I don't need them, as of right now, but I figured it will be good just to have on hand.

Thanks for finding these! I'm glad we have a less expensive alternative to FX and Sports Match adjustable rings, especially for our lower cost airguns at the very least.

Are they really useful for droop issues? They are adjustable in height but would you be able to have the front at one height and the rear at another without some means of tilt. And it seems that there are seven incremental settings and not just an infinite range of movement. How much of an MOA correction would you get from a single setting difference between front and rear. Maybe too much.

Just speculating about the usability for droop.

If the height screws are removable, then you could remove one, from each ring, then the angulation would be adjustable as well.
Besides the fact that it's only $16, It's also free returns, so no risk involved.

I think that the two screws, and the groves in contact faces, make imposible to adjust nothing than heigh. May be that removing one of the screws, angle could be adjust, but donīt forget that the recoil of some of our air rifles, needs really solid mounts. Probably, on a PCP, this mounts could do the work, without one of the screw, but on a magnum springer, the story could change.

IMHO, the Leapers UTG Compensator Mount  MNT DNT06, is a cheap, reliable and good alternative to the FX nolimits, or the Sportsmatch adjustable rings. Maybe, the Hawke Model  22 140, very similar to the FX nolimits, could be an alternative too, but I donīt know nothing about this adjustable rings, and itīs not so inexpensive than the other.

Those little height adjustment grooves need to have an angular sweep.  Else, the ring will be canted out of parallel to the scope tube.

Can't tell for sure if the steps are parallel  or if there is a sweep to them.  Would know if one had the mount in hand...

I have made a couple of posts on these rings, some where around here,

I am using 2 different pairs of these rings,

With a optically centered scope, by loosening both sets of screws on both rings,
you can tilt the scope down in front and raise the rear with NO bending of the scope,
when tightening the screws, and have in excess of 25" of down or up adjustment at 25 yds POA/POI....

When I get some more rings, they'll be these, I love them,
I am setting up a long range 22 LR pistol (500+ yds) and a set of these rings are going on my Leppy scope.   ;)

I just wish these rings were made in 30 mm............. ;)

I'm really surprised nobody has mentioned the Sun adjustable mounts.  They are essentially the old B Square mounts.  As I understand the story the rights were purchased by Sun.  http://sunopticsusa.com/rings/ (http://sunopticsusa.com/rings/)

Crossed the Rubicon -Twice ... First Fully Adjustable Scope Mount Purchases (https://airgunwarriors.com/community/airgun-talk/crossed-the-rubicon-first-pcp-purchases/#post-35399)
I recently utilized a set of Sport Match mounts and some Sun Optics ring/base mounts.

Although expensive, the Sport Match fully adjustable mounts were surprisingly easy to install.
The Sun Optics mounts were more of a challenge to mount.
However, the Sun Optics system is serviceable ... at least on a PCP.
Not sure how well they'd hold-up to my Hatsan 125 - I've not doubt the Sport Match would.

I have had a few different adjustable rings but none are as good as fixed two piece rings for trouble free zeroing.  A set of those "adjustable" rings came with my HW30 .177 from Gipper and I had to REMOVE them to get the rifle sighted in right--he had a shim inside the front "adjustable" mount because the adjustments wheeled out!  I simply reduced the HW30 .177 to OPEN SIGHTS and will never put a scope on it again!
