Title: They're Back!
Post by: Xraycer on January 26, 2020, 06:57:46 PM
Squirrel activities have been quiet the last couple of weeks, but today, they've returned with new company. Most of the activities was around the 20yd bird feeder.
With the last remaining ton of wood pellets now stacked in the garage, I no longer have my large hiding area under the deck. So, I donned some knee pads and kept low, as I crept along the gravel surface under the deck. There were 3 scavenging along the ground under the nuts feeder. One spotted me and ran up a wooden pallet leaning up against a tree. It say quartering away from me, with it's right eye set upon me. I steadied the Bullboss against the wash basin and set the Discovery scope's cross hairs at the base of the skull. Thump!........and it goes down behind the wooden pallets. The other 2 takes off!
I stayed in my position for about 15min. The birds came back to the feeders, but no other nutters returned. I went to check on my target. There was a huge exit wound on the left side of the neck, but it took a little poking around to find the entry would above the right shoulder.
As I went about doing some stuff, about a v half hour later, I spotted a couple of nutters back at the 20yd feeder. Once again, I repeated my steps for the first snipe. I was spotted and one went over to a weirdo pile and stared right at me. Again, the Bullboss sent a 25 grain JSB right into the right side of the chest. The energy sent this one back flipping to the ground.
These 2 will make a nice stew at some point in the near future.

There has been no activity at my feeders for a week and my trips to the woods have been fun but non productive.  It sure is nice to see that other people are having good luck.  Keeps me inspired.  Please keep it up!

Great job,

and, you are going to have to share your skinning technique - as you were able to turn that squirrel into two skinned ones!!

My backward is sorta like a grocery store. Not as convenient, but certainly a lot more fun.
Here was a juicy squab, I harvested from the backyard, and roasted up the weekend before last.
Stuffed it some sausage and veggies. Mighty tasty! I find it very satisfying to hunt for my own dinner  :D

Hi Dinh !    Bon Appétit !

Those are a couple of nice squirrels !

Wow....that gun is a nice set-up.   I really like the stock that you have on your rifle and your Discovery scope.

Best Wishes - Tom

Thanks, Tom!

That Discovery scope is a really good quality scope for $70, and it includes rings. I'm really glad I took a chance on it, because I've been very impressed by it!
