Title: What Stands For You In Winter Like This? Me: FWB Sport w/Bushnell Trophy
Post by: fwbsport on January 20, 2020, 01:58:38 PM
We are going out but coming in to another Ice Storm in the St. Louis area here, and that means staying inside and tinkering around where it's warm with rifles to tend and rifles waiting recommending requesting requiring their attention to be fired next!

During this rifles shift around getting fired and then I thought what's that FWB Sport up to?  I like the scope and that makes it kinda nice to pick up and shoot.  Then there's the fineness of the action and firing which is a league above HWs.  Ice break trigger and a snap and the pellet is seen in the lens on its way into the steel (sometimes--it moves very fast) with the least amount of fuss compared to bigger rifles or even rifles its size and weight.

Is the cold weather making me like this rifle or is it just I like shooting it?  I can't tell.

Is a rifle in the cold weather your favorite?

I am shooting the P17 pistol in the heated garage - 15 ft to bullet trap.
I modified the piston ( per Tom Tucker mod ) - shooting 430 fps 7.4g in 58 degree garage.

I am Southeast of St Louis near Evansville, IN

my HW30 is stored at the door to the garage.  there is a target 30' away in the far corner and when i feel like taking a shot, i open the door and shoot.

if i want to shoot longer distances, i sit at the bench with the service door open and shoot my HW100 BP or Brocock Contour.  the door is protected from the wind so i'm semi-cozy inside the garage.

Currently my Venom HW80 lazaglide in the basement with 40 feet to the target. But soon my Beeman R7 will return from John in PA with a full vortek tune.

Is it cold out where y'all are?  I'm sorry.  In sunny California we pretty much shoot all of our air guns outside year 'round.  Neener-neener-neener!  :-)

I have an indoor, heated, members only 50 yard range to shoot in, weather is irrelevant.  8)  All of my springers are Motorhead tuned and I think he uses some kind of "space age" lubricant. Not much POI change if it's 0 degrees or 90 degrees.
