What effect will adding or removing Belleville washers from a reg make?
Will removing them make it easier for the hammer to open the valve and vice versa?
-
Big effect. Possibly so big that you might regret it. Do you have a reg on a bottle or in a tube?

Removing one Belleville will likely reduce the setpoint pressure by a huge amount.... This will reduce the power of the gun, but yes, it will make the valve easier to open by the hammer....
Adding just one Belleville could easily cause the regulator to stay open all the time.... This could blow the burst disc, if there is one, or could cause the valve to "lock", so that the hammer may not be able to open it at all....
Generally adjustments to regulators involve small changes to the shims, or moving the seat a small amount in an adjustable regulator.... Go slowly, a little adjustment makes a BIG difference....

Cheers guys. It was a thought that popped into my head - what if type of thing.
One of my rifles, a 21 year old Air Arms Pro Target with a mk3 reg has 10 washers in.
Looking through other old posts most seem to have 8. Mine works fine though.

the have different spring rates, dia's and thicknesses. Number is only a very loos measurement. Not rally anything to go by other than a like unit.
