Good morning folks, I apologize if I am posting this question in the wrong place, I couldn't find a similar one elsewhere.
I just received a brand new Synrod for christmas and I was reading about the L/W barrels for it. I was wondering if the barrels purchased from the L/W website are drop-in ready or do they need machining, since they are only blanks? Is it worth the upgrade?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and THANK YOU in advance.

The lw barrels from lw are blanks. You would need an LW barrel from crosman and I'm not sure they sell em seperately.soneone else will chime in I'm sure.
-
How accurate is your crosman barrel? That should be a deciding factor
-
Richard, as was said above, if your Crossman barrel is accurate it will be as accurate as any barrel! I recently purchased a PRod with Crossman barrel and its a laser! But if not, a LW barrel will fill that need!

I swapped out my .22 factory barrel with a hammer forged barrel from Marmot Militia (no longer in business). It was a drastic improvement. There are a number of shops that can cut the blank to fit your Synrod. JSAR, Mountain Air and others familiar with the process. Blanks typically run around $80 plus, and the labor typically runs around $100 to have them machined. JSAR mentioned LW drop-in barrels for the Synrods back when they started. You might give them a call and see what they offer now. I know Mountain Air can do the work.

Richard,
Congrats on the Syn-rod, get out and shoot it at 25 yards, then 50/75 yards. What's your max range for shooting?
Some small things to improve accuracy, Lawyer spring removal, adjust the trigger for your shooting style. JSB pellets 14/16/18 gr assortment. see what our gun likes.
Invest in a chrony if you don't have one already, this way you know what the gun is shooting at fps and for tuning/accuracy/tight groups.
As for LW barrels, David aka Rocker1 makes custom barrels as well. I have a 1 LW for the Prod and Mrod barrels machined/modded from Rocker1 & a Mrod along with a MM HF barrel I use with the Prod.

What caliber? Are you after one of those poly rifled lw barrels? Are you gonna shoot pellets or get into slugs? Do you know about t.j’s barrels? Hammer forged in pellet and pb sizes.

It's .25 and I've only been able to shoot 3 rounds out of it. I took it out as soon as I got it and its been raining pretty much nonstop for the past 3 days, so I haven't really had much of a chance to shoot it. :o

If your barrel doesn’t end up being a good shooter I have a TJ’s .25 in 1-22 twist I would be willing to sale. Try lots of different pellets first though.

LW barrels are not available for purchasing through Crosman unless you ordered a gun with that style of barrel. Roy at Mountain air does great work. I purchased a 17 cal LW barrel from him and couldn't be happier.

Richard, congratulations on your new rifle!
Do yourself a favor and try it first. My 25 Synrod is very accurate right from the box. Try targets at 10, 20, 30, 40 yards, even 50 if you can.
It may surprise you.

Hmmm, if he doesn't want it, talk to me. I believe a 22 twist is for pellets though? I'm looking for a slug barrel.

My .25 synrod was very accurate out of the box as well with the JSB kings. Just got my Hades and the gun will need to be re-sighted for those. Spend some time shooting the kings and it should surprise you.
