Title: Crosman P-1 Full-Auto Blow-back Pistol Review
Post by: Dave S on December 23, 2019, 09:26:50 PM
Delivered Saturday, rigged it for Tethering Sunday morning, tested it today at 10 Meters. O.K. Fixed Iron sites are a total joke, the only redeeming quality was the laser sight supplied with the Gun. With fixed sights.... at 40 feet, couldn't hit a 24" trap! , At 15 feet, it was 8" low. Dialed in the Laser at 40 feet.....and now I can rip those little Soda Cans.
Bottom Line.....Make sure the gun has the LASER if you buy one!!!!
Anyway.... Plugged it into the bottle...gassed it up...and had FUN all day! Gun performed flawlessly! My only grip is loading the BB's....Yeah...I figure most of you PCP guys are laughing now.....Full-Auto Blow-back is COOL! Never shot the real deal... then don't knock it! BTW, I made what I call a "Gismo" out of a coat hanger to hold the BB follower open for easy loading. Why didn't Crosman...or Umarex think of this? Gas ain't the problem....loading those little BB's without a decent detent is!

As I mentioned earlier, the Fixed sight on this gun shoot shoots way low. Sure, the laser fixed that, but what good are fixed sights if you can't you can't use them.
I would much rather see a Pistol, any Pistol with fixed sights shoot a little high, rather than low. This applies to any gun albeit a 92F Beretta, Sig Sauer, CZ 75, etc..etc..
with Fixed Sights. Well, did some research and found out the only remedy was to create my own solution by saddling a new sight to the fixed one.
I took a sheet of .130" sheet of aluminum I had laying around and set to work. First, I picked out a piece on the sheet and cut out the U slot using a Dremel and various files. Once this looked good, I carefully cut out the piece to the exact dimensions I needed using a Dremel cutting wheel. Finished filing to fit and used Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black on the part. Next, I used 5 minute Epoxy Resin to adhere the new sight to the fixed one.
Let it set for an hour or so, then took it upstairs to my 10 meter range. To my surprise, the gun hit right on the 2" dot at 39 feet. The windage on the gun was already spot on so it was just a matter of raising the rear sight.
All in all, the Gun is very well built from mostly Aluminum alloy, beautiful finish, performs flawlessly, and is a kick to shoot! Those in law enforcement
well definately appreciate the weight, recoil, and feel of this gun. Pic below! dave

What kind of accuracy are you getting with carefully aimed shots, and at what range?  Have you tried the Hornady BB's?  I have found them to be the most accurate in my Daisy 880.

Hey,Mike! Gun shoots at 39 feet inside 2" which is remarkable for BB's with a 5" barrel. I clocked the gun yesterday at 305 fps...ave. 300 fps. I'm using Daisy 5.3 gr .171" OD BB's which seem to work in all of my BB shooters. Crosmans are 5.0 gr .170"O.D., Umarex 5.3 gr. 172.5"O.D.. Have not tried Hornady's, however they are all around 5 or so grains. I usually shoot .177 and .22 pellets which are, by far, way, way more accurate than BB's.
Fact is, it's all about the blow-back and Full-Auto that is impressive with these BB guns. No doubt about it...This gun shoots way low from the factory! No brand of BB's will remedy this one. If I had it to do all over again.....I'd still buy it!  Thanks for the reply!   dave

I'm wondering if some of the Umarex BBs are the same as the Hornady BBs.  If the Umarex ones you have are black, I'd assume so.  See this link:

Yes, those are the same BB's made by Hornady for Umarex. dave

I've had this gun for several weeks now...and I love it! Added the rear sight extension to raise the elevation 8 " and now it hits one the money at 10 meters. After several hundreds of rounds, I decided to disassemble the gun. Been years since I worked on a Baretta 92F or M9. Layed the barrel on the bench and....ping....there went the spring guide rod! Spring was there, but no guide rod! I forgot to wrap my hand around the spring and unload it!  Spent 2 days cleaning out the garage with no luck! Called Crosman the following Monday (closed for the Holidays) and "Sally" informed me NO parts for this gun would be available for at least 6 months because it was a brand new product....Great! Went through my bolts and found a 6 mm x 80 mm Allen Bolt I use for my 750 Honda Valve covers......Worked like a charm! I did have an extra 92F Guide pin but would have had to turn the shaft .010" to fit.  The spring and guide rod have been modified specifcally for this gun. Daa! Anyway, I was able to order an extra Mag directly from Crosman for $44.00 shipped.
Bottom Line, for those of you in law enforcement or the Military, or anyone who is familiar with the Breetta You're gonna' LOVE this pistol. Same feel, same weight, and Blow-Back of the 9mm "Real Deal"! Oh! flip the safe all the way down....and it's Full-Auto! 8) dave
