What would you get and why ?
CZ barrels vs LW barrels
The Uragan you can get in both .25 and .30, The RM5 ( at least for now ) only in .25,.......do they still make the .30 single shot ?
I have no experience in High end guns, so I like to hear,....let the debate begin ;D
-
My gut reaction would be Urugan, but the review of the RM5 from AEAC is convincing. Sub-MOA at 100 yards is no small feat from a 45 fpe bullpup. I think CZ barrels are probably better than LW when push comes to shove, but most of the really high end manufacturers are using hand selected LW barrels. The Urugan has a factory carbon bottle in a format that doesn't look as gaudy as bottle guns usually do.
-
Forgot to mention,
In both cases I would get the .25 tuned to 60+ FPE before they would even get to me.
and the .30s to -/+ 90 FPE

Manny, I'm in the same situation, only I'm considering the EdGun Lelya 2.0 versus the Vulcan carbine (and versus the Taipan Mutant). Same manufacturers. The main points I'm looking for are the ease of left-hand cocking while shouldered + compact size. My needs are different since I'm going after mainly squirrel, not pigs (and mongoose).
In your case, power plus accuracy dominate. Pumping the Uragun by hand would be tedious but IIRC you have a compressor now. The EdGun can be cocked easily from either side, and let's be serious- the RM5 is one of the finest looking PCPs ever made. The Uragun has a big honkin' bottle and somehow STILL looks darn nice. Like Chris, I'm of the opinion the CZ barrels are among the absolute best. This is a situation where you really can't lose. Based on the reviews, the Uragun has a slight edge in tuning, and if you want .30, you're going Vulcan/Uragun.
-
I own two Uragans a .22 mini and .25 full size and they are awesome. I’ve only owned them a few days to be honest but build quality and trigger time tell me all I need to know. Definitely Uragan Manny.
My wall of mini’s

Manny, have you looked at the RTI performance Priest II ?
-
Even though I don’t have , or even seen either. I vote for the EDgun , come on man he drove over it with a truck. I don’t think there’s another P.A.R. ( wink wink Travis ) on the market that I would try that with. Heck I would t try that with a springer and expect it to shoot straight. R5M in .25 tuned to shoot 60FPE and a Leshiy with a custom .30 cal barrel that would make me smile from ear to ear.
-
If I had the money I'll go with the Edgun.
I saw this on the Uragan Manual and was mehhh. I think the idea is that you should be careful no debris goes inside the gun while cocking the rifle

Then I saw this video.

I'm a hunter and I'm planning to take my go to the sandy soils of Florida. EdGun for me

I have a r5mlong 25 and it’s an amazing gun. I’m shootings around 58ftlb, I would add the HUMA reg and power plenum to go higher ftlb. I also have an Uragan compact 22.... it’s the wifes. I wouldn’t be afraid to hunt with either, the triggers (my opinion) are not match grade but fantastic for hunting, I have both around 1.5 lbs. I usually cock both guns with my left hand. I would probably go to a 30 Uragan for hogs, Charlie Frear of Georgia Airguns is a big fan of the 30 Uragan. I don’t think you could go wrong with either....

Can't even look at that gun :) LOL ....looks like it's been put together with found parts :) LOL
sorry but I need to like the looks or the guns I have :)

Agree, I think the Edgun is just phenomenal in looks,.....also I really like Ed, he makes me laugh :)
if I go this route ( high end guns ) I would get both a .25 and a .30 ( in time down the line )

LOL on "been put together with found parts"
Now seriously, check some of the features on that "part" gun, you can shoot it without the air bottle, having the bottle on the backpack and running the air directly to the back of the gun, this will make the rifle light! I think this "part" gun was designed with hunting in mind!
I'm on the other side focus more on capabilities than in look, but I just like to look different... that's why I place an order on the Tesla Cybertruck maybe :)

Zero chance !!!!! ...can't even look at pictures of the gun :) LOL

Manny I see it this way.
If you really need a .30 cal, get the Uragan.
However Edgun has been on your mind for a while now, and with your hunting skills, you can be just as productive with the .25 as you would be with the .30.
The Uragan just popped on your radar, you buy it and your still going to want the Edgun, not sure if the reverse is true though...

Your reasoning is very solid :)
I wander how hard is to find an Edgun .30, and also if they still making them.

Lol, zero chance.... when you are shooting you will be watching through the scope :)
Man, seriously I've researching this gun, not buying now but really researching this gun.
Let me give you another info about this weird looking gun, you can buy a kit and swap the caliber in less than 5 mins, they designed the thing so you can just swap 3 things. The kits are not that expensive, the .30 cal runs for $333 gosh this price is weird too, what's wrong with RTI, why not 300? Or 330?
https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/factory-parts/rti-priest-2-barrel-kit-.30/ (https://www.airgunsofarizona.com/factory-parts/rti-priest-2-barrel-kit-.30/)
Any way, this just shows how this guys were thinking in functionality vs look, but I know... too ugly and zero chances.... remember you look through the scope!
Ohh also this review show how amazing they shoot, and this was not the HP version.
Warning! Manny, close your eyes now!!

Couldn't care less for changing calibers, zero interest.
Again, there will be absolutely no chance that that gun will ever make it my way, none whatsoever :)
-
The 30 cal Edgun is a single shot only so it's R5 not R5M (M for magazine). I have a 25 cal R3M tuned to 60 fpe, R3 in 30 cal and Uragan in 30 cal. They all are pretty good and you can't go wrong with either.

Yeah I know that the .30 Edgun is single shot ( for now :) ) I like the Super long.
-
I’ve been reading and watching everything related to the R5M over the last couple days because of the thread. They are unobtainable and will most likely stay that way for Canadians , but man am I drooling over here. I hunt in the snow ,sleet , rain and dry with temperatures ranging between 100* and -20* . When the temps get real low I only have one gun that I trust and that’s a rim fire. The R5M would change that for me and I really don’t think the Uragan could keep up just by looking at it.
-
Your kinda hunting? I'd go Edgun. Super rugged guns and great power. My Uragans reg wasn't working so I returned it. What I like about Edguns are super easy to work on and parts are easy to get.
-
You guys really want to make me go back to the Edgun ;D ;D
-
I have the R5 .30
Sure it's single shot but you don't need a second one...
Hands down the most rugged rifle I've ever owned (not talking about Ed's video with his SUV running over one of his guns. I am talking about first hand experience.)
A serious hunting rig!
-
Is the R5 .30 still being made or was it just a limited run ?
-
From what I’ve read the .30 was a limited run. Surely after the success of the first batch there will be more in .30
-
There were only 407 of them made but I see (every now and then) some second hand ones being available (nothing wrong with the guns,I guess it's about people's wrong choices).
-
Just watched some more videos. I decided I'm going EdGun. Depending my situation come April, I'm looking at getting both the Lelya and the Leshiy. Why am I going EdGun? Because they are pure hunting tools, just like the Korean guns, only more compact. It helps that they are designed to be easily serviced.
Manny, you've been lusting over that R5M for quite some time. Even at .25, you know it will be more than enough to wreck any pig's day.

You are absolutely right,...on many counts :) :)

Was just watching the AEAC video and,......1900 Bucks ???? for some reason I though they where 1600 :(
no way, that price tag puts it out of the question.

What's that saying about champagne and beer ???

Uragan is 1600 and if ordered from Krale way cheaper

Manny, we're talking only $300. You could always finish one of your selfbows and sell to make up the difference (or sell another one of the current herd of PCPs).
I don't like bottle-guns, yet I love the Uragun. I just don't love them as much as I love the Vulcan carbine, BP, and the EdGuns. That reminds me- is anybody aware of an importer or state-side shop selling the KalibrGun Capybara?
-

Well honestly,...I would pass on a bottle of Christall for a 12 pack of Kirin Ichiban :) :) :)

Yeah, but it's 300 on one gun then 300 on the next one,...and all of a sudden I have 4 Grand tied up on 2 guns :(
But yeah, I love everything about them Edguns :)

Can also snipe the classifieds, from time to time a good deal just appear.

Yes, some time ago there was an Edgun .30 superlong for 1500,.....it was sooo tempting :) :)

Manny,
They just had a 10% off listed on EdgunLeshiy YouTube channel the other day, it will probably pop up again in the next few days, but honestly you could probably email him Edgun West or whoever was honoring the discount, and get it applied.
So you're really now only talking $100 bucks..
-
The discount codes at Edgun West last until the 31st!
-
Not buying anything nor making any final decision until I've sold all my current guns :) :)

That's why I have the R3M long. Same power, same shot-count, but the bolt is at the rear and on one side instead of the 2x cocking bolt. I can live with this for paying almost half what the R5M costs.

Yeah those R3M are nice but the R5M design IMO is spectacular :)

Hopefully they'll pop up in April, too. Though maybe I can sweet-talk SWMBO into making an allowance... Yeah, right ::) ::)
Through it all, I keep looking at that Career .20 in the Classified. I like me some .20
