Is anyone shooting the H&N Hunter Extreme 18.52g pellets? How fast are you shooting them and how is the accuracy and expansion?
-
I have tried them in several and have not been impressed. The regular hunters have been better for me. expansion is not great on them.

Thank you for your answer

I have seen that some people like them, and to be honest i do all of my comparisons on a bench at 30 yds shooting paper. They are just not as good as others but certainly good enough in my guns to pop squirrel heads at 30 yds. But I am taking squirrels with head shots at 55+ yds with Barracuda match domes with my Liberty. I don't need expansion for that ant the domes are extremely accurate.
Unless you need the extra weight try the Hades. They expand better - softer lead and they shoot very accurately ( which may be because they are a new pellet and the dies are new).

the H&N Hunter Extreme 18.52g pellets shot as good as the H&N regular hunter with the 22 FX streamline...neither expanded very much on squirrels at 35 yards they passed through...they were shooting 860-865 fps and they were very accurate,i shot them up to 40 yards.

They shoot fine in both my Rainstorm-I @ around 1000fps & Gen-I Marauder @ about 890fps.
This is based on when they weighed 19.01g & on paper targets @ 25yds. Expansion was moderate, but worked well on squirrels.
I haven't bought anymore since I discovered the JSB Ultra Shocks. They're expansion is really good.

I already have the .22 Hades and they are very accurate out of my Mutant. I was just thinking of trying a little heavier pellet, thanks. I'll probably stick with the Hades. As the saying goes, if it ain't broken, don't fix it

Actually for the price of a tin of pellets it is not expensive to try them. Your gun may really like them. I like shooting heavier pellets in most of my guns, almost all of my guns prefer heavier pellets. If they shoot accurately then they will deliver more energy on impact.
For me personally only moderate expansion is not a strong enough selling point and will take a back seat to accuracy . That is just my opinion.
Your gun may like them, no one here can tell you that, but if you are looking for a lot of expansion this offers probably no more than any non domed pellet.

Ya those Ultrashocks really are bada$$.
My Liberty stacks them at 30 and does real well at 50 too.

I have had good luck with them in my GEN I Mrod.
Did very well on rats.
I did a review on accuracy on them in this thread somewhere.

Here is the linky to the review I did on HP/Hunter pellets I had on hand: https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=97689.msg913651#msg913651 (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=97689.msg913651#msg913651)
That is a old post, and pre-modded Mrod.

Based off those pics, just might have to try the Ultra Shocks.
They feed in a Mrod magazine, or do I have to use the single shot tray?

I think they'll fit the MRod mag. I usually deliver them with my Rainstorm-I.
Here it is next to a 18g JSB, 32g Eun Jin, Breast & .25 King

Those look like they would feed.
Man, those are some pretty funky looking "Breast" pellets . . . :P

Freudian slip. ;)
Careful, they usually travel in pairs!

I found the Hunters performed perfectly when taking body shots on squirrels. At 20 yards expansion was .38 and stopped just under the opposite hide. At 40 yards expansion was .32 and also stopped just under the hide.

Babaganoush,
thanks for specifying body shots. 👍🏼
Now, could you tell me with what muzzle velocity you were shooting those Baracuda Hunter pellets? 😊
The expansion you're getting is pretty awesome, even at 40 yards times and a half it's caliber...! Almost like shooting a .30cal pellet... 😄
However, the impact velocity is often the decisive factor if a hollow point expands (so, that's why I'm asking for the MV).
Thanks,
Matthias

Well, Babaganoush,
I'd still like to know the power of the gun you were shooting those .22 Baracuda Hunters with, or what the gun was (if unmodified).
Thanks! 😊
