My Yong Heng has began behaving strangely. When it is powered on and connected to the gun it will air up only to the pressure already in the gun and no further, even though it continues to run.
For example, if there is 2200psi in the gun, the Yong Heng fills to 2200psi and maintains that pressure without rising above it. If I shut the pump off, the pressure remains the same without any noticeable leaks.
Any idea where I can start diagnosing the problem?

Time for first stage piston rings and second stage seals by the sound of it. When my second stage piston broke I thought I'd be ok just getting the new second stage piston with seals, but found that the first stage had worn to the point that I wasn't getting enough air to feed the second stage so it would only build to 3,200 psi. Rather than just do the two pistons I did the cylinder and all and all is good again. On dis-assembly, there was no apparent wear on the sleeves so I probably would have been ok with just a set of rings for the first stage. In the near future, I will just order a second complete piston and seals set and have a backup cylinder ready to drop on if I have a breakdown, that way my compressor won't be out of commission while I wait on parts from China. Planning ahead this time.

Thanks for the reply tracker. After doing some research along the lines you suggest, I think the project is more than I want to mess with at the moment depending on what will actually need to be replaced. My brother gave me his compressor so I'll use it for the time being. My brother-in-law just so happens to be training to work on compressors so I may send it to him once he gets his bearings.
