I am deciding between two scopes for a Diana 34. Leapers UTG 3x9x32 AO true hunter or Nikon P3 3x9x40 EFR, given Nikons recent announcement I am not sure. Looking for opinions.
-
fwiw I like my Nikons over my leapers scopes personally I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Nikon.
-
While deciding between Nikon and Leapers you might try getting some follow up on the Nikon rumor. What is the source? Have you emailed Nikon?
-
It's not a rumor ;)

I actually called Nikon and asked them. They have stopped production of rifle scopes.
Having said that, from the reviews (many of them over the years) I would still go with the Nikon over the Leapers.
Mind you, I don't own either of them. My opinion is based solely on reading reviews of both brands over a number of years.
Check Cyclops Videos Joe W Rhea (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWL2TQa6Ug_qqj36AgPp2XA) on Youtube. Caution, he does use some language that might be offensive to some people, but he does good scope reviews.

Isn't it amazing that you have post a disclaimer about a scope review because some hyper-sensitive snowflake might be offended. ::)

Between the two, Nikon all the way. I've owned a few of both. Had several of the UTGs of the same series on similar power springers. All of the UTGs eventually failed and were replaced under warranty. I got sick of them and gave them away. I have several Nikon scopes including 2 of the EFRs that I bought a few years ago. Recently one failed on a magnum gas springer and was replaced last week under warranty with the new p3 EFR version. That failure was understandable because I hadn't corrected the barrel droop and the elevation was maxed out. For the amount of Nikons I own (9 or 10?) I've only had 2 that needed to be replaced under warranty over the last 8 years. Where as every UTG had to be replaced at one point. Usually less than a month or two. If you want a quality scope that will last on your springer, look into the Hawke Airmax. They're not cheap but Dodds sporting goods sells them considerably cheaper than anyone else. They list them on GunBroker.com under the name The Gun Pros in Ellenboro WV

Seems like a good deal but I am not sure FFP is what I want given the distances I will shoot at.

You do not want a FFP scope. You want and should get the Nikon before they are all gone. Get the Nikon! ;)

I have one of the Nikons that is reserved for my HW95L. I decided to buy a second one for my D34 to replace a Hawke Vantage but the sale ended Sunday as I found out Monday morning when I went to order it. Guess I'll see if there is another sale and if there are any left, just not willing to spend 190 bucks on one.

Crosman also has these - https://www.crosman.com/holiday-2019/optics/3-9x40-mm-plt-riflescope (https://www.crosman.com/holiday-2019/optics/3-9x40-mm-plt-riflescope)
I have two of the 3-12X44 models and they are GREAT!!!
