Title: PCP Tunes
Post by: TrinityMaker on November 21, 2019, 06:27:35 PM
Before I start my dissertation, let me state that I have no affiliating with PCP Tunes other than I have purchased several items from them. I'm not sponsored by them, and I'm not getting anything for free from them. The aforementioned statement is the foundation I will build upon. I understand that I'm relatively new to the GTA forum, and it takes time to build "trust" and develop a level of respect with the thousands of members on here that share your love for the sport. My motive is not to instigate an argument or insinuate ill will or divisive motives on ANYONE'S part.

A few months back, Turek (UpNorthAirGunner) pulled a video from YouTube where he was testing a regulator from PCP Tunes that was designed to be used for the Air Force Texan platform. I thought the video was great, and I wondered where it "disappeared" to. When I would click on the  link, it would say the video was "private" and I didn't have access. So I though that perhaps I needed to subscribe to his channel to view the video. Well, that failed. So I resolved to reach out to him. Ironically, I had just created a profile for GTA- perhaps a week beforehand. I've been shooting PCP air rifles for a LONG time, but only recently decided to create an account on GTA. I've lurked over the years, but never felt the need to pull the trigger. So the timing of my correspondence with Turek and the timing of me creating my profile on GTA were merely coincidental.

But I reached out to Turek on YouTube and asked about the video. He referred me to the GTA forum via hyperlink, and I read about the failure of the regulator. Now I'm not here to defend the regulator. It's obvious it failed. I'm also not here to take sides. I fully understand why Turek pulled the video. The ramifications of liability could be HUGE if he was endorsing a product that could seriously hurt, or even kill someone. But what I am here to do is to defend PCP tunes as a company that manufactures quality products. I've purchased several regulators from them (the V1 and V2 regulators for the AF Condor) as well as other components that have successfully upgraded the power level of my rifle. These products have NEVER failed or malfunctioned on me. I've had them for 3 years.

Unfortunately with the posting of the thread about the Texan Regulator failing, the whole company has been demonized- not just the product. Paul (owner of PCP Tunes) is a great guy. He's always been very accommodating and willing to answer my questions or help me in any way he could. He sells hundreds of products, world wide, with great reviews. I reached out to him the other day regarding something unrelated to the "Texan regulator" and he expressed to me that his sales in the US had taken a huge hit due to the threads posted on the air gun forums. To me, this is a shame. As I said, he makes hundreds of products. The Texan regulator is just one of them. Paul lives in Mumbai India. His company is his livelihood. Again, don't take this wrong or go sideways with it. I FULLY UNDERSTAND why the video removed and why Turek posted the warning. But, in my opinion (and I reiterate, this is my OPINION), the thread should have been more explanatory to distinguish the difference between the product and the company. I understand that at the time, Turek did what he needed to do, and his response needed to be swift. I don't blame him as no one has the ability to foresee the future, or to predict how people will react.

I guess I said all that to say this.... Don't hesitate to purchase products from PCP Tunes. They are a good company. They make good products. Was there a failure with their product? Yes. Have they done something to rectify the issue....? According to Paul, Yes. And based off of my historic interactions with Paul, I have no reason to doubt his word. He's always been forthcoming and honest with me.
