Title: My AR2079 are friends again.
Post by: Toddspeed on November 16, 2019, 07:14:36 PM
I got my AR2079B about six months ago and I’ve loved it from the start. It’s accurate, easy to improve, and I love the target style stock. I put a regged bottle (1450 psi) on it, and opened up the ports. But lately I’ve been having some troubles. Bad accuracy, inconsistent velocities, tearing up barrel o rings. But everything came together today. I’m consistently shooting JSB 10 grains at 850 FPS, and I shot several half inch groups at 30 yards with some crazy winds. So just for fun I shot some 10 yard groups. It was a good day.

Good barrel is a good barrel no matter who made it.

Have spent the $ to replace a couple with "name brand" barrels (LW and HW) but also changed calibers (25 and 5mn)....so no direct comparison.

Nothing wrong with a smooth well adjusted QB....one way or another, it can be made to do whatever virgins do well.

I just realized I messed up my post title, it’s supposed to be, “My AR2079 and I are friends again”

Great stuff Todd!
When you say "everything came together" did you find a problem and fix it or did the airgun gods finally smile on you? LOL
A while back My AR2078-B developed a leak so I took it down and resealed it. Very easy, especially if you have ever done a 160. I cleaned, smoothed, and lubed a few bits while it was apart.
Love that little side lever. ;)

I have been casually looking for a bottled version, but the 79-B's are kinda hard to find.
Where did you find yours?

Little bit of both, first I realized my home made LDC was messing with the pellets coming out of the muzzle, so I had to fix that. Second, I had to do some grinding/finishing inside the breech to stop eating up o rings. Also, I’m trying to find the right combination of hammer and spring. I have a lightened hammer from my QB78, and a slightly shortened spring. So I’m looking for the best FPS for accuracy and power. This is my first .177, and I really like the flat trajectory over my .22s. I want to do an SSG, but I have been having trouble drilling a hole in the hammer for the cock on open mod. But I’ll get it eventually.

I got my AR2079B from LG Outdoors, they had them on sale for $150. But now I think they are out of stock. You could also try Field Supply and Midway.

A place called ECOP is where I got mine, and later the one I bought for the son-in-law...
But they have been out of stock a while.

They seem to be like the PP700s, they become available in batches, then they’re gone for long stretches.
