Title: Badger gets new wood
Post by: DLP on November 04, 2019, 12:21:54 AM
Been whittling and sanding on this stock for some time now. Stained it Dark Walnut. Used wet walnut husk I had been brewing in a 5 gallon bucket for a few weeks.  Squirrels got the nuts. Mrod got the squirrels! The stain turned out pretty good. So I gave it a couple coats of polly. Sanded it down and gave it a couple more coats. Then sanded and coated again. Looks much better than the plain jane short stock. The extra length also helps remove the top heavy feeling when slung over you shoulder.

Nice work on the stock, and even more so on making the stain yourself.
Looks awesome!

Thanks. I got to actually carry it for the deer opener. Sure rides a lot better then the stock one does. Unfortunately I havent got to shoot at anything. Had small bucks very close. But up here it has to have at least 3 points on one side. Heading home tonight and look forward to shooting one in the morning.

Look'n good boss!  What kind of stock is that?  The color matches the cerakote real nice.  The stock stock totally not worthy and is pretty heavy for being small.  I have the MadDog stock totally digging it.  I sat in the stand with her this past Sunday but no luck.  Didn't even see a deer lol.  Good luck!

It’s a Richards microfit blemish that I cut down to fit me. I did get to shoot a fork horn Sunday with it. Perfect heart shot at 65 yards with a Mr. Hollowpoint 220 gn hp. Dropped in its tracks. Recovered the slug too.

Hey DLP quick question.  How is that gauge setup working out for you?  Also I see that you have a band around the cocking handle.  Have you had issues with it blowing open?
