Title: Hatsan Vectis Wood Stocks and power mods ?
Post by: Tweaker on October 29, 2019, 02:25:11 PM
I'm wondering if there's any aftermarket options or people open to making stocks for the Hatsan Vectis? Theres a lot of Poly on the rifle and that's fine with me too but I would be more interested in a basic wood stock like such as the Hatsan Flash Wood version.  I like the lever action and so far the only lever actions are this and the sumatra(which I got years ago).  I could try making one my own but I think I lack the expertise in making wood stocks so would prefer to buy. Also its probably going to sell well since a lot of people might get Vectis for the functionality while not liking the appearance.

Another Thing I'm curious who has modded their Vectis in .22 or .25 to get 50+ FPE ? I saw someone post about a minor modded flash that can get 60+ FPE and those have similar internals.

The Vectis doesn't seem to get much love around here lol, I have one in .25 and I enjoy it! A wood stock would work fine with or without the plastic shroud. It's not a gun I even wanna try and work on tho, even the breech is plastic! with lots of tiny circlips.
I saw a guy in the classified section selling a modded vectis, its same as the flash which alot of guys mod.

Yea the breech being poly is a big mistake on these , I'm still waiting to try out mine and will have to see from there. The poly breech might also be a factor in not tuning these for anything much higher than stock fpe.

Yeah I admit I was shocked when I realized the breech was plastic lol, I had no idea until i bought it and ofcourse I got a reburb so no returns but I still would've kept it cuz its a fun gun. I cut the shroud and added a donnyfl sumo and put a reddot sight on mine.

I thought the same thing, at first, about the breech being plastic, but I have come around quite a bit. I love this gun. I worked on my brother's flashpup and the machining on the inside of his breech looked horrible, so going to plastic is a positve thing to me. And this plastic is tough and heavy. I cut the end off of mine and direct threaded a Tanto. It has been an awesome shooter and a lot of fun. I got mine re-furbed on sale for $225, a steal. As far as adjusting the power goes, I had trouble turning it down. I got a .177 and wanted it to do only 20fpe with 10.3gr pellets and I had to turn it down almost completely to accomplish this. A half turn in one direction and it would fall right down and a half turn up and it would be in the mid-20's for power. I never even tried to crank it up but it came doing 26fpe and it was at the lower third of the adjustment range. This gun, in this caliber anyways, seems to already be setup for power with heavy pellets and no porting is needed. Nice.

It takes a little bit more than minor modding to get 60fpe out of a Flash.  The highest I've seen anyone get out of one was a .25.  Full tilt, it peaked around 65fpe with some heavy lead.  I'm not saying they can't be a good little thumper, but it takes a bit of work.  Not much in parts though ;)

The biggest problem with modding the Vectis is the lever action and plastic.  If the valve/transfer/etc. are the same as the Flash, I don't technically see any reason why it couldn't be modded for more power.  I will admit, the plastic breech would make me a little cautious about taking it too far.  I'm sure it is a fun little gun just the same!  Just looking at the stocks, I imagine a Flash wood stock could be modified to fit a Vectis, but it would take a lot of cutting on the bottom side, and into the grip for the lever.  I think the deciding factor for me would if you can buy a wood stock, and if so, how much would it cost?

I just looked at my wood flash next to the vectis and that deffinetly seems doable! the Flash wood stock is a very beautiful stock too imo.

True , Don't see why Hatsan doesn't just offer a wood stock version. Thats the main problem with aftermarket stocks is that you start considering what could have been bought with the total amount instead. The one I got in  .22  should be here soon, will have to see how much of a turn-off the poly trigger and breech really is  :D.
