Title: NUAH submission - Taipan Veteran Long .22 @ 102yds
Post by: Tonykarter on October 23, 2019, 10:41:33 PM
.66 CTC
10/22/19
8:45pm
Wind dead calm, verified with mosquito fogger
Taipan Veteran Long .22 (Ukrainian origin w CZ barrel)
Hawke 8x32-56 Sindwinder scope set at 32 power
JSB 15.89 pellets (sorted for uniformity with strict disqualification, sized, and weighed:  used 5.52mm size and pellets between 15.70 and 15.75)
Benchrest on my best folding table, bags front and back
I believe I'm shooting about 880-890fps if I remember right, haven't had the chrony out in a long time

I shot about 20-25 shots on a NUAH target getting it dialed in, then switched to a fresh target.  (Can put 2 NUAH targets side by side on the box.)  The second target I shot a .79 CTC, see below.  I was done then, but when I went to retrieve it I said what the heck, and pinned two more on to the box.  I shot the .69 the first of these two, then started on the last target.  The first two shots were very close together, closer than the .69.  The third shot was between those two, and I felt myself getting giddy and just fell apart mentally.  That's when the flyer happened and ended it.  With the pressure off I shot the fifth shot and darn if it didn't go inside the other three.  It was a .47 with a flyer!  I have three Taipans.  The other two are .25's, both are "Taipan" accurate, but this one is superlative, head and shoulders above those other two.  The stars aligned on this one.  It is a very special Taipan, and I am one lucky fella.  I would like to see what a true benchrest expert could do with it.

Awesome shooting Tony. Looks like a 50/50 with 1x.......might have made a 2 x if the target print was 4" at 4moa instead if 3.88"
You've set the standard high for this one man! Love it!

I don't know about that buddy, but thanks for the confidence. Your .22 is putting a hurtin' on us big cals.! I love it when that happens!

Don't forget to enter it here. And play with your printer settings and see if you can get a full 4" at 4moa instead of the 3.88" for the next one. That will help a bunch when you're trying to get a 50/50 and as many in the x ring without touching the line.
