I left the house about 7:30am and got in the woods by 8am, it was very windy and the first spot I went to was really open to the wind bad, I did see one nice squirrel there but couldn't get a shot so I decided to re locate to a different spot that was more shielded from the wind, by the time I got situated in my second spot I spotted a BIG fox squirrel and I needed to lean to the left some for a quick shot to the front part of his head, he dropped right down and didn't move, by the time I got to her I realized there was a little movement so I gave her the heel of my boot to her head and it was all over. I had hit her just below her right eye and the slug exited out the upper jaw area on her left side which hit the front part of her brain. It was sprinkling by the time I got out of the woods because I knew that rain was coming soon and by the time I got on the road the wipers were going on my truck.

Good thing you left after that. Don't want to get your gun wet.

Thanks Harry and Tom !!! I have gotten bigger ones but usually when they're much bigger they're older and the bones seem to be thicker. This one I'd say was probably a 2 year old well fed female, very easy to skin with a good amount of meat, I'm sure it's going to be one for frying. I may fry her up tomorrow for lunch with some onions and Cajun seasoning, it ought to be tasty.

Thanks again Tom !!! For now I'll be shooting the 19.6 grainers with the DAR22 but it's getting really good power right where it's at but some of the shots are getting into the low 900fps area and I think that my 23 grainers will also do very well in this gun, especially on the far off shots.

nice squirrel Wayne. i wish i had your eyes or woods sense or what ever you use to find all these squirrels! i have yet to even see a chipper in the woods while hunting. what do you have, bionic eyes?
