It was a little on the windy side but other than that it was a good hunting day, I got 2 fox squirrels and a red squirrel. I shot the first squirrel twice in the head, the second one to the head did the trick. Amazing how I've been able to recover so many of the HP slugs from the fox squirrels, they sure do dump the energy when they hit.

Nice ones Wayne!

Good shooting

That's pretty cool that the pellets aren't all passing through. (Sure messed up that red too!) What speed are you shooting them at?
-
Wow..Wayne ! Those two Fox Squirrels were really nice. Good hunting and shooting on your part... there.
That Bug-eyed "Firecracker" of a Red was a totally Devastated...what a mess he was.
As always..... I enjoyed your great video.

Wayne, awesome shooting on all 3!
-
Thanks for the great replies everyone !!! David the slugs are doing about 800fps@27.5grain@39fpe. It was a rarity for me to ever recover pellets from pretty much anything that I shot with this gun before I started using the hollow point slugs.

great shooting Wayne, you're packing the freezer this season.. 8)
-
Thanks Octavio !!! you sure have that right about packing the freezer !!!

Good shooting Wayne, those fox squirrels sure look big. Your squirrel hunting is impressive as they are wary critters.
-
Great shooting Wayne! Your slugs have great expansion. How come they always look gold in the pics?
-
Thanks Luis and Harry !!! Harry it would be nice to be able to cast some from gold but that would be a little too pricey for my britches! I do have a 1 gram gold bar of .999 pure that I found with my metal detector however I'm going to leave it as is :D

Yep...there sure is some energy dump going on. Amazing how even with small quarry the slugs are getting so deformed.
Great shooting!
-
Wow, you really made a great shot on that little red at 30 yds. It was all good shooting as usual!
Very nice hunt and video. :D
-
Thanks Buddy !!! Yes the pure lead does make a lot of difference with those hollow points. I do have a bunch of the slugs cast with a different hollow point that's round on the end
of the pin that will probably not mushroom nearly as much but in turn I might not be able to recover the slugs on even the bigger squirrels with them. I'll have to try them out
soon but it'll take a little tweaking of the scope.

A "killer" outing Wayne and nice shooting indeed. We don't have too many Fox squirrels in North GA, but I will see one once in a while. In West Tennessee where I grew up there were more Fox squirrels than greys. If you ever decide to cast up some of those slugs in .25 cal I would love to test out a few in my Dominator. They really seem to perform consistantly.
Look forward to your next hunting adventure...Steve

Thanks Steve !!! I have the mold for .25 but winter before last I cast up a bunch of them and melted most of them back down, eventually I'll get me a sizing die for them because I've got 3 .25's I'd like to try them in, maybe I'll break down this winter and buy a press and sizing sleeves.

Good thing you are not wasting gold on squirrels :) I was just wondering why the expanded pellets look gold in color.
A few thousand (or tens of thousands) more grams and you 'll be rich Wayne! Keep looking, there might be a buried treasure in those woods you hunt in.
