Title: Hw Barrel pivot binds.
Post by: Bayman on October 08, 2019, 11:46:19 AM
This Rx1 is going to be the death of me. Anyway it seems the only way it will shoot accurately is to tighten up the barrel pivot beyond reason. Even before this point the barrel has tight spots in rotation when closing. I've adjusted my other Weihrauch a thousand times and have seen some uneven pivot tension and wear but this thing still has tight spots after backing out the pivot bolt adjustment nearly a full turn. Normally they go from too loose to too tight in a quarter turn and still rotate fairly smoothly at any tension. This one has uneven wear marks on the breech block and slight galling on the edges of the pivot bolt hole. I've tried new shims and the pivot bolt is new. I've tried lubing it with moly and Krytox (separate times after complete degreasing). The moly seams marginally smoother. It goes against my nature to just sock it up and let it wear in smooth but I don't know what else to do. There's obviously some machining issues here that aren't easily fixed so I guess I'm looking to see if anyone else encountered this what they did or did not do about it.
Thanks

Ron,

I had a similar issue with my HW50S.  Even with the pivot bolt loose, the breech block was tight in the fork.  I removed the barrel and sanded the inside of the fork with 400 and 600 grit sandpaper.  I removed just enough material form the inside of the fork where the breech block and shims could snugly slide in and the barrel could rotate smoothly.  I then lubed the area with Krytox and have been good ever since.

Good Luck!

Yes, and don't forget to polish up the barrel latch, spring, hole and all....

Yeah I did that part already. I probably should have mentioned that

Bayman, I was given some pellets but didn't try to see results yet from my barrel lock degrease and clean up yet. I would like to straighten up the left/right bend in my barrel 1st. I just dint understand why our rx2's giving us trouble lol
