Title: just got the CP 3-12x44 from wally world:)
Post by: JeffB1961 on October 06, 2019, 07:29:51 PM
returned the wally world CP 4-16x40 and this 3-12 is MUCH better ! and it's only $23 more :) raining so i won't be shooting today but in between showers this DOES NOT have the white haze above 10ish power , the reticle is a lot nicer IMO and the turrets are also much nicer IMO . same cheesy scope caps and the rings are too tall for me but seem to be sturdy but those will be replaced . i think it's looks a lot cleaner without the light control stuff which i've never cared for anyway . comparing it to my hawk varmint 6-24x44 @ 12x the clarity is very similar , the hash marks on the reticle are slightly larger than the varmints half mil-dot hashes but much finer than whats on the cp4-16 and should be more useful i think . this will be going on my old diana 34 .177 that i picked up off CL's a few years ago for $80 . i don't have a great deal of experience with scopes so i'm definitely no expert so consider these the opinions of just some dude on a forum .

all in all im very satisfied ! i'd highly recommend anyone considering the standard wally 4-16x44 to add another 23 bucks and get this instead .

i've put a few hundred shots through my diana 34 .177 and no issues at all . don't how it would do on a magnum springer , but crosman says it's shock proof and gives a lifetime warranty ..... it does not have dots , it has fine slashes similar to what my hawk varmint has but not quite as fine but much finer than triangle things on the  $75 cp 4-16x40 and also finer than the mildots on the leapers 4-16x44 swat i had a few years ago . don't know if it's actually a etched reticle , crosman doesn't say and the manual that came with it didn't mention it either . seems like that would be a selling point they wouldn't omit ..... and it's now $92 at wally world down from the 98 i paid a few weeks ago and only $17 more than the cp 4-16x40 i returned because of how foggy it got beyond 10-12x and i really didn't care for the reticle . the side focus on my hawk spoiled me i guess because the front AO is much less ergonomic for me and having it with the much clearer optic and much better and usable reticle makes the $17 cheaper CP not worty of any consideration IMO .... and we all know what opinions are like .. hahaha

no problem with the CP scope , but wally world in store wouldn't price match the $26 LOWER walmart.com price and i just got the thing like 3 weeks ago for $98 .... said i could return the scope for what i paid though since i had the receipt .... that made me a little warm , but i was polite . went home , got the scope and packaging and got my cash back . just a heads up .... no problem with the scope though .

I went to WW Saturday and asked about price match. Was told no, a corporate thing. So I ordered it. It came a little while ago. So, not only did I get if for $27 less, they had to eat FedEx shipping cost!!! This is my second one. I really like the scope!

Good luck with your new CP scope.
I get the "haze" you talk about on my CP 4-16x40 above 8-9x or so.  It's about 7 years old and I guess they haven't changed them much.  It has sat in the box for years :(
