Thanks. The promotional email I got from PA stated Tree-19 requires purchases over $150. Has that been lifted?
-
Oh, not sure. I took it to mean 15% discount and you also got free shipping on orders over $150. I'll look again.

90 days and counting! The first 500 customers who use the coupon code: Tree-19 will receive 15% off, plus Free Ground Shipping on orders over $150.

The price is good.
Are the pellets accurate?
What group sizes do they get at 10, 15 and 20 yards?
-
Earl,
Someone is going to have to risk it to find out. The amazon review shows a split histogram with more negatives than I want to see. One comment against, is for it being a lead pellet.
https://www.amazon.com/Haendler-Natermann-Wadcutter-177-Caliber-7-48-Grains/product-reviews/B0053P0S18/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_show_all_btm?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews (https://www.amazon.com/Haendler-Natermann-Wadcutter-177-Caliber-7-48-Grains/product-reviews/B0053P0S18/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_show_all_btm?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=all_reviews)
Contrast that with the four times (including shipping compared to the PA deal) more expensive RWS pellets. Those have a perfect review histogram:

This is the newer version Excite Econ II 7.4 grain and the old Excite Econ is 7.48 grain...
-
Thanks, Peter.
Something tells me this is a new product intro price to draw interest and establish a better reputation.
-
I am thinking about ordering 8 tins from PA for $22.95 with Tree-19 code plus $7.99 shipping=$30.94.
That is $3.87 per 500 pellets, WOW!
This is the new ECON II at 7.4 grains.
The old pellet was the ECON at 7.48 grains.
H&N says,"These wadcutter pellets are described as having a new head design for improved performance, yet retaining a low price."
I hope they produce small groups on my 18 yard inside range.
-
I am a sucker for a bargain so I ordered the 8 tins from PA for $30.94 with shipping.
I will post my opinion after shooting them in 3 or 4 of my guns.

Thanks Earl,
I bet that as soon as you post good results, the price is going to increase by 50% :)

The original Econ was one my P17's favorite pellets. I never got around to stocking up on those. Hopefully these are just as good.
-
Interesting!
I have 4 tins of the original econs and nothing I have likes them at all.
-
A couple of years ago I was visiting the indoor airgun club in Phoenix.
Excellent club with computerized scoring.
They were shooting the Excite pellets.
They say they order 100,000 every year...

I have most of 5000 of the original ones, bought on the cheap from Field Supply. They shoot OK out of my Baikal 46M SSP pistol. Velocity is close to the rated "500 FPS" at 495. This, while 7 grain Meisterkugeln I have shoot 80 FPS slower for some reason (same as 9.3 grain RWS wadcutters).
-
I just did a quick function check of these pellets using my Baikal 46M SSP pistol. Specifically, to compare the new H&N Excite Econ V2 (the deal listed in the OP), against the Excite Econ V1 pellet that some disparage:
The wadcutter head shape is slightly different, with V2 having a larger flat and a steeper bevel at the head OD. See image below.
V2 is slightly harder to load in the 46M, suggesting a larger diameter, or longer "land" at the head OD.
Measured Head Diameter:
V2: .177
V1: .176
Measured Weight:
V2: 7.6 grain
V1: 7.3 grain
Measured Velocity (one foot from the crony's first "screen"):
V2: 480 FPS
V1: 500 FPS
Shooting quickly, two handed at 10 yards, off a tall cardboard box as a rather wobbly makeshift rest;
V2 groups about 1/2" higher than V1, using the same aimpoint.
See image below (V2 on the right; using modified standard air pistol target with regular scoring rings)
V2 seems to group tighter than V1, in the sense of few outliers within 10 shots.
Now, the V2 shot in the 8 ring on the right hand target was my fault. My mind was wandering, with "this is the 10th shot"; and I squeezed it off despite having lost focus on aiming.
I realize this is not a full evaluation, but wanted to confirm that these pellets appear to be good value at $4.50 per 500. At least for plinking and short range pesting.

The H&N Excite ECON II came today.
I shot five 10 shot groups at 18 yds inside with sandbags and scopes and measured them center to center.
Maximus = 0.79"
Challenger = 0.35"
CMP Daisy 853 = 0.35"
Beeman P17 = 0.84"
Crosman F4 = 0.92"
This pellet does OK for $4.50 for 500 if price is a consideration.
All 5 of these guns will shoot smaller groups with other pellets.
The Challenger and CMP Daisy 853 have Lothar Walther barrels and they shoot good with most pellets.
The JSB 8.44 is the favorite pellet for the Challenger, CMP Daisy 853 and the Maximus.
I have 8 tins = 4,000 of these ECON II pellets and my guess is that I will never shoot all of them.
-
Thanks for your more thorough evaluation, Earl.
-
I use them in my blow back pistol, they don't jam up the guns and are fairly accurate as well, can't beat the price either. They are great for short range plinking.
-
I am bumping this thread because these pellets are still available at the price given in the OP.
Also, I think they contrast favorably against cheap Daisy pellets just arrived in the Bargain Gate: https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=166251.msg155861867#msg155861867 (https://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php?topic=166251.msg155861867#msg155861867)
