Title: R1 SANS Scope
Post by: Frank in Fairfield on September 24, 2019, 04:52:18 PM
Back to basics (almost).
Took the scopes off of the Diana 52 and the R1.
Using factory iron sights on the D52 and put the Beeman (Williams) peep on the R1.
I like the handling much more and with my new peepers (Cadillac Surgery last year), I figured I might just as well use them.
Today I shot about 50 7.9 CPH with the R1 then brought out the 8.2 RWS WC Meisterkugln.
Shot 10 standing offhand with the peep and front post.
Then I upgraded the stock photo..

50 yards, off hand, standing, and end up with a group like THAT?!

You and that R1 are something special!

At 50 yards I am considering it a good day if I were to do that off the bench!

Scott,
Just a wild guess , but, I believe he meant  he fired 50 shots at 10 ? yards.
Still better then me anyway.

Great shooting Frank!

I like that little Deutsche sticker on the receiver. Where did you get that? And where did you get that cool bipod/sling mount combo?

 :D

I have country of origin flags on all of my air arms.
Amazon.

The bipod was made by Rich, the forum administrator at Crosman Air Pistol Owners Forum.
The barrel band was sold by Dr. Beeman.

Here is another example:

That is a very cool touch! I may steal the idea.   ;)

Do you know if he's still making them? I'm a member there.

A long long time ago I mounted my Williams on my r1 and could not get it to shoot low enough for 10 yards. All I had back then. I have 20 yards now and should give it a go again.Nice groups btw.Do the peeps stay put on the r1 or any other spring gun?Didnt put enough shots through it to see if it would move.

Delmar,
I have the Williams peep on the R1 and its daddy, the HW35.
As you know the sight doesn’t weigh anything so there is no kinetic energy.
So, the sight does not move..

Excellent shooting Frank!

I recently mounted a Williams peep on one of my HW95s.  It’s a great addition and so happy I did it.  I need to try my hand at an official 10m target using the peep.  Currently I have a post in the front globe for general plinking.  I would have to change the insert out for the circle ⭕️ when trying the 10m target.

I like my HW80's and yesterday a war has begun with really big squirrels all of a sudden all over here and even inside my back yard!  So I took out the HW80 .20 with the Vortex Viper 2-10X 30mm Zero Recoil Mount and shot the first one and she (it was a she) was decked and then I shot another and that one was decked and they were still moving so I thought just an execution shot with a Crossman 1322 .22 pumped up to 8 to finish it all.

Not so.  I shot one in the rib cage and realized that wasn't doing it so I got out the R7 .177 and used that to finish the whole situation up close.  The damage of the .20 Exact Heavies was a hole all the way through so fast the squirrels could not crawl anywhere but my hits were body and now I am chastised to use only head shots.

Well, I have a difficult time shooting any animal in the head these days, but I'm thinking I'll have to get used to it.

My HW80 .177 is also more accurate than I thought, I attribute it to shooting more often with all my rifles which is happening constantly now.
