Random flyers with CPHP are a well known issue to most here. These are ideal for plinking and hunting at close range, since they are inexpensive. Anyone planning on achieving tight groups, will want to steer well clear.

I would like some CPUM to try, there don't seem to be none at a reasonable price, around here,
like the CPHP @ $5.95 a can........ ;)

I swear by all things good, my old AZ Rapid .22 preferred CPHP’s to JSB’s to 100 yards. It was a non regulated gun and I could literally put ten covered by a dime at 100 yards. Past that, yes, JSB had much less drop though heavier. The softer lead must have formed a better seal in that tight bore shallow groove barrel.
15-20 years ago Crosman was the best pellet available for most people. I was a blow mold technician at one point and know how finicky molds can be. Plastic, lead, big difference but molds need to be cleaned quite often & when we’re looking for the consistency needed for accuracy a choke is a solution to a problem that wouldn’t be there if, the pellet heads were all the stated size we ordered.
So brand new die dropping 19 grain 2% Antimony to 98% lead. A good accurate penetrating pellet. I definitely will buy 4 tins and give a try.
Wayne states he’s casting his own pellets. I’d love to hear about available pellet molds in 5.53 & 5.54 15-21 grain weight.
I’m telling everyone I can. GMI Engineering is sadly now limited to .177 in their Country. He’s an air gunner who had been shooting .22 slugs from a Condor to 500 yards after cutting choke off. I explained my desire for a larger .25 for older Sumatra & how JSB 18.13 just fall into some muzzles.
I explained I’m not fully interested in casting my own pellets and or swaging 50-60 grain .25’s in .253 or with .253 driving band. I wish a tool or two step process could 1: somehow size heads up by 1-3 thousandths. 2: flare bent skirts straight. 3: not bend the pellet at waist by trying to just expand head slightly, flattening out rounded dome head and expanding edge.
I was told to wait. Be patient as I’ll soon be able to buy any slug or pellet and with a newly designed system choose to precisely size/swage down, AND also size up a slight bit with perfection. Now I’m not expecting 5.50 to be magically fixed with perfect skirts, straighter, and be 5.55. But; if I order H&N FTT in 5.54 (or any brand) and ANY of them fall through the 5.54mm no go gauge (which is within 2.5 microns) which means I’m already sorting into batches.
Now what if I simply bought pellets and went through sizing each pellet to a consistency that’s never been had in a tin after shipping and poor quality control? Even if you’re happy with your chokes work. What if more consistent, perfection in round heads of a known size was easily obtained. No more work than casting, less work. Or sorting into batches? Disappointing work. I’m personally stoked to see what this Engineer comes up with because I don’t compete but flyers sure do make me mad.

For a while I shot the Benjamin hollowpoints in my R10, which I understand to be the same as the CPHP. Most of the time I found them to be excellent, despite appearances. Those other times could have been my fault. The JSBs I shoot now were found to be slightly more accurate, so I switched to JSB (after I bought 2000 Benjamins...).
