Title: Three airguns that are older than me.
Post by: Insanity on September 15, 2019, 08:15:43 PM
I have in my care three airguns that need some love. The two owners dont care how long it takes or how much it cost but want them soothing again. If I had the cash and they were willing I would buy all 3 as they are working (with a reseal) collectors guns.

Nice variety. I’ve heard that Daisy’s with that type of rear sight are a little more collectable.

I know all three are well used but still very nice.

I started in on the Benjamin Franklin it's going to need a new pump link and maybe a pump arm.

The Crosman is a 102, made since the late 1920’s to 1949?  They made a ton of them great rifles easy to reseal.  The magazine holds 20 pellets gravity feed but you have to pump it each time.

Thanks that helps a lot.

Matt those are all great guns for sure !!! I have a Crosman 130 that I'll be tinkering with this winter myself along with a few others that need some TLC.  My 130 looks brand new but I think it was probably a more recent model with the plastic grips.

Ya gotta love the vintage rifles! Definitely some of the popular ones of their day. I got a deal from a friend on the Facebook airguns groups for the Daisy/Sears only rifle on the bottom of the rack in this pic. $20+ shipping. Needs a resto, but I like doing it and have most of the materials already. Another Daisy/Sears rifle going into my collection.

I seen a post in the classified gate for parts so I emailed the seller and will have a entire pump arm assembly on it's way soon. He was also very knowledgable and knew by part number all I needed right off the bat.

Yes unionrdr I'd love to have them all in my collection but alas it's not to be.

I started in on the Benjamin Franklin it's going to need a new pump link and maybe a pump arm.
The 880 is going to need an "elastomer spring" (daisyspeak), they still sell it but hopefully the intake seal (aka top hat, or cup seal) and the breech seal between the barrel and VB are still okay. The intake seal sells for $30 and the breech seal is basically unobtainium. By what I can see I'd guess it's a 1977-'78 but the Lot. No. will say for sure. Almost every 880 with the screwed-on rear sight has a smoothbore barrel.

I picked up a full rebuild kit at bakers not too long ago I think a replacement is in there.

I got the Daisy/Sears underlever in today's mail. It's a model 799 I think from 1972 by the serial # (190720)? Here it is after a first Rem-Oil rub down;

Went to Baker airguns and picked up a seal kit and valve tool for the 130 today. Its torn down completely now. A very gracious member, and good dood Mike Baker, sold me all the parts I needed for the pump arm for a very reasonable price. I talked to him through email on saturday and I had the parts on monday. When it comes time to reseal the crosman 102 and I need parts I will contact him first in fact I will contact him for any obscure parts I need that he has a bunch of.

Nice looking guns.  Looks like the 102 needs a cork spacer between the stock and the receiver.

I made one for a 101 out of leather..... works great.
