Title: I sheathed my 392 barrel with cf tube...need recommendation
Post by: antithesis on September 07, 2019, 10:22:07 PM
Once again mods, I'm clueless where this should really be so put it where you like it😁

As the title says, I got a good deal on 2m 10mmx9mm cf tube. I slotted it and carefully popped cracked and crunched it to a surprisingly tight, clean looking result over the barrel of my benji 392.

There is the issue however, that a nitpicker like myself has a problem with. I do plan on reinstalling the rear sight minus wedges, after a tiny bit of grinding fits perfectly. And up close you can see the tiny imperfections where the cut doesn't match the solder line quite perfectly along the length of the barrel/tube/sheath . I plan to fill and cover this with a bead of SOMETHING, hopefully clear, and something I can make a clean bead and finish with...after all this is only an aesthetic mod, so I want it looking good.

Adhesives, sealants, whatever have you.

Fire away fellas💥

Maybe a UV cure epoxy.  Check ebay for it.  It's pretty cheap and you'll use it somewhere.  Some dry soft some hard. The beauty is you shape it and hit it with the supplied light and it sets in five seconds with no shape change.  You may want to do a paint test.

That's close to my idea.

Actually I have a big tube of clear pmma based granite seam seal for countertops. If it's thin enough I may use that. Or methacrylate monomer...that is also uv curing, thin, clear, and highly finishable as demonstrated by the artificial nail community😅.. strange but I find repurposing potential everywhere

I'd really like to get my hands on some of dental filling quality stuff.  Talk about hard drying.
