Wandered over to Walmart (Danvers, MA) yesterday and they had 500-count tins of CPHP in .177 for $5.28/tin which is as good a price as I've seen. Picked up 8 tins. They are listed at $5.99/tin online, so check your local store and they might be less expensive!

I assume these are the 7.9 grain variety? I they were 10.5 grain, I would JUMP all over it and order about 20 tins! (grin)
Thanks for the heads up!
Oops... just realized that you DID say they are the CPHP pellets and, unfortunately, Crosman ONLY makes a 10.5 grain HP in the Piranha... (heavy sigh)

WM has Crosman 10.5gr domed for $8 online. Not great but better than usual.

Yeah, I bought 5 tins @$7.99 per, plus tax, free shipping and next day delivery not long ago. The local Walmart only carries the Piranhas in 10.5.
I was happy with the purchase, and so far, they seem to be grouping as well as the brown box domed. (fingers crossed)
I WOULD buy Crosman .177 HP in 10.5 grains IF THEY MADE THEM!!! (heavy sigh)
The 10.5 Piranhas just don't have the accuracy of the domed pellets. They aren't TERRIBLE, but they just aren't as accurate for me.
I really think a regular HP (no gimmicks) in 10.5 grains from Crosman would be a good pellet. Don't know why they don't make them?

The Crosman hollow point design is really just a marketing gimmick. The dimple is too small and the alloy is too hard to mushroom effectively. This can be observed on pellets recovered from game, even when delivered at high velocity. They behave very much like a dome, both ballistically and terminally.

I believe the "Piranhas" are also simply gimmicky marketing. Although they have worked well in some AG's for me, they pale in comparison to the Crosman Domed 10.5 pellets which shoot exceptionally well in both of my .177 Freedoms. The .22 has not been tested enough yet to know.
Still, I would prefer a plain HP over the gimmicky Piranha simply because I believe it would be more accurate.

True, the Piranhas don’t have a very good reputation for accuracy. Much better to have an accurate dome to icepick a hole in the right place than a gimmicky pellet that misses the mark.

A miss it never as good as a hit, no matter which pellet.
