The following info will help in finding a Daisy model 880 rifled barrel that is a drop-in fit for the early style guns that use the clamp and screw arrangement to secure the barrel to the VB. Model 881 barrels from the same time frame will also work.
NOTE: It's worth mentioning that so far I have not seen a model 880 with a screwed-on rear sight that had a factory installed rifled barrel. Doesn't necessarily mean they don't exist, only that I haven't seen one.
- 1979 April LOT NO. D906616 with welded on rear sight is first date seen with clamped-on rifled barrel. Shroud is not stamped “RIFLED BARREL”.
- 1982 May LOT NO E217995 is last date seen with clamped-on rifled barrel. Shroud is stamped “RIFLED BARREL”.
- 1985 March LOT NO. 5C03889 is the first date seen with the new style rifled barrel pressed into VB.
- The type of barrel retention used between 1983 May and 1985 March is not known yet. If anyone can add to this, it would be appreciated.
A thread with more info on the various changes made to the Daisy model 880 over the years is HERE (http://forum.daisymuseum.com/topic8044_post34639.html#34639). The thread also has links to deciphering Daisy REG. and LOT numbers.
