Does any one know the specs for a 30 caliber Lothar Walther pellet barrel, like twist rate, size of the barrel. I have a Ataman 30 cal and need to change the barrel out.
Thanks

and according to most that have tried it, the LW barrel is too large in diameter for pellets, and too fast a twist.... ::)
If you want a good pellet barrel, I would suggest the 26" twist from TJ's, which is 0.294" land and 0.300" groove.... It was good enough for Tim @ Mac1 to win the EBR in 2014, and it started the trend to slower twist rates for pellet barrels.... The latest FX .30 cal "SX" pellet liner is a 40" twist !!!

According to American Air Arms website Tom uses a 42” twist on the 30 cal Evol.

Correct, but I don't think he sells them separately, and I believe they are proprietary....

Ten four on that Bob. I should have been clearer on the intent of my post. I couldn’t figure how to bold letter a certain part of your quote about how the trend is moving to the slower twist and I was too lazy to type it out on my phone but I was only illustrating your statement about the trend to a slower twist in the .30 cal barrels.
And from what little info is out there on the .30 cal Evol is appears that the slower twist is working. The Evols have superb accuracy with pellets.
Thanks,
Chris

Looking forward to seeing how that one is!

I had 2 TJ's 1:26 made up for my Flex, both are sub MOA at 100 yards. I'm not the best shooter nor do I have an ideal rest/bench.
IMO, you cant go wrong with these barrels.
I am looking forward to seeing how Doug's new creation performs as well.

The 26" twist TJ's works great on pellets and slugs that aren't too long and heavy (65-80 gr.)…. Douglas' new barrel is intended for pellets only, the twist rate will be too slow for slugs....

out of curiosity bob . what do you think will be a good combo for the 61.5 and 65 NSA .30 ? im looking into building something around that general range , might end up being talked into something lighter , but for right now thats my intentions... I really think those two slugs are looking to shine given the opportunity.
I ran a bunch of variety through an under powered Ataman .30 and it seemed to want to like the 61 and 65 most then of course the JSB pellets at 980 were lasers, but i found it interesting it like the 61 and 65 slugs better then the faster moving various i had in the 40 and 50 grains ... all NSA ...

I would ask Nick what he developed them for.... He never sells anything without extensive testing....

i actually wanted that rsterne answer its always educational and eye opening for myself.

The 26" TJ's works fine with my 68 gr. BBTs.... so it would be plenty fast enough for Nick's 61-65 gr. slugs.... I would still ask him what he recommends....
