Title: Newest 880 Trigger
Post by: 35 shooter on August 27, 2019, 04:49:46 AM
Just bought my third 880 about a week ago and this one felt like all the tolerances were tighter?

No. One was the rear sight was perfect straight with no lean at all to one side or the other.
The pump arm seemed to be just a bit tighter than my others and a bit harder pumping.

When I took it apart to do a bbl. tape and cc trigger mod to it, the bbl. had a real snug fit in the end of the shroud... I put 2 wraps of electric tape around it anyway about 3/8” back from the muzzle, but have since heard the newer ones may not need this mod?
Anyway, it’s driving nails from the bench so it did’nt hurt it for sure.
I did this same mod to my other two(a 2016 and a 2017 year models) and they definitely benefitted from it.

While I had it down I did the credit card trigger mod to it after polishing the trigger and sear contact points a bit.
Darn if the trigger and sear assembly felt a bit tighter getting in and out of the housing too... well, the trigger anyway.
I could’nt see any visual differences from my other 880’s though.. just felt tighter getting it all back together.

Anyway, I used a piece of the same gift card I used on my others and got a 2 lb. break like glass trigger pull just like my others, but in less than a 100 shots it turned into a air retained pumper lol. I had to cock and pull the trigger 3 and four times to dump all the air.
I took the card out and it worked fine other than a hard trigger pull.
I tried several times with different thickness cards with the same effect several times.
Tonight I put a piece of the thinnest coated business card I could find in it(about a third the thickness of a credit card) and it works perfect, but wound up with about a 3 pound trigger with some take up slack..

Anyway, thought i’d Put this out there in case anyone else runs into this trying to do a cc trigger mod on the newer 880’s.
Don’t know if maybe the trigger and sear is a bit thicker on the new ones, (2019 I think)or if it was just this particular rifle?
Sure took a much thinner card than I or my brother have had to use.

It shoots just as well as my others from the bench at 20 and 25 yds....Jeff Davis’s head inside of a dime does’nt stand a chance lol! :D
