Title: Loading Pictures to Posts
Post by: SpiralGroove on August 21, 2019, 07:39:04 PM
Hi Liz,
Now that we lost TinyPic in addition to Photobucket, what is the easiest way to upload pics to our posts.
I'm not hugely computer savvy, so what's the agreed upon, easiest upload/sizing method now that Tinypic is gone?
Kirk

Admins... is Google Photos an acceptable option?

Trying one Google Image link below, airgun related, recent new old stock acquisition Beeman Sportsmans Series RS1 with RS2 trigger.

Link is silly long, but this may be an option for anyone with a Google account?

I email them to myself from  my phone,  and resize them in that process.

On my phone, when I send an email attachment (photo), I get the option to resize for sending. I usually choose the smallest one (10 percent). That makes them small enough for posting here.

when I am posting them to this site in a thread, I just click on attachments and other options, then browse my files for them.
Hopefully that makes sense! :D

I don't understand the difficulty with uploading pics to this forum?   Perhaps there is a reason why some people want to host the pics on another site and then link to them here, but the forum does allow for uploading pics directly into the forum and that is what I have always done.  It works quite well, for me. ;D

Hey BackStop,
If I upload phone pics directly from my desktop the file size is too big.
How are circumventing this problem?  Kirk

You need to resize the picture to reduce the file size.

My apologies!  My phone is a "feature phone", "flip phone" (1.3 Megapixels) so I guess my images are already small enough.

No offense intended.

When I HAVE to have a "smart" phone, I guess I will just not have one.  A phone, that is...

If you have Windows 7 or higher there is a file in the accessories called 'snipping tool'. You can snip any part, or all, of whatever is on your screen. Save it in a file and it will be within the size limits to post on GTA. I'll do a snip of this screen and attach it... notice the file size of the full screen picture. Also notice in  my task bar at the bottom of the screen, I put a shortcut to the snipping tool... it's always at the ready.

And when you email a pic from your phone (to yourself) on a smart phone, there should be an option to resize the photo you are sending.

Yep... that's what I did before I found the snipping tool. I also have a camera that the pic resolution is set small enough. Most cameras and phones can be set manually.

None taken at all, just trying to find an easy way to upload ;), I thought I was going to get the key to the highway...

Hey Thanks Guys,
On my Windows 10 computer, resizing is very easy.  Because of Avator's post, I found out ... all I need to do is Open the pic I want to post and Right Click - this give me re-sizing options.  I just pick the size file acceptable by the GTA.  Save re-sized pic on my desktop and upload from GTA.
