Title: Legacy 1000 Fluff N Buff & Barrel Securing For Cheap
Post by: Pocketpower on August 04, 2019, 01:04:42 PM
So last night I was in the tinkering mood and decided to tear the little pumper apart to check things out and ended up reading about securing the pencil barrel into the sheath so pumping it doesn't change the POI. (Tape mod)

Now here is my take on it, instead of using black tape and spending time wrapping it around the barrel I had a pack of 3M doubled sided automotive tape and decided to try that, I made three separate wraps down the length of the barrel in addition to a sliver of green frog tape on the end to secure it better to the sight shroud at the end. it was a trial and error getting the perfect amount of tape to slide in the shroud with the perfect amount of resistance... the rear sights had to come off and the tapped holes made it slightly difficult but  the Result was that it indeed worked and tightened up the groups pretty significantly.

I also while I had her apart took some 400 grit sandpaper and smoothed out all the contact surfaces on the trigger, sear and ? hammer? I think it's called.l, as well as the chamber area where pellets are dropped in. I spent about an hr.5 and slapped it back together, removing the trigger block for the open bolt and the spring and plunger for the bb's since it's not a bb gun..
I should've bent the trigger spring a little bit to lighten it up cause now that its smooth like glass I can really feel how heavy it really is. Its not really hard to get apart or back together but since the middle receiver's screw has stripped I'm leary of taking it apart a whole lot more till I can get a metal receiver from a 2100 to upgrade it....
Anyways it was fun to do a few things to it,  showed me how it works mechanically and makes me wonder how they assemble these at the factory cause it looks like it'd be a pretty complicated machine if its not done by hand...
I have a few random pics and as soon as I resize them I'll add them for visuals 8)
