Title: DAVV compressor
Post by: cootertwo on July 26, 2019, 11:40:11 PM
So, having the obsessive compulsive disorder that I no doubt have, and being upset with the short life of my Carette compressor, I ordered one of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HMVG7FV/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HMVG7FV/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Not much talk about them, but I like the 4 cylinder part. I'm hoping it will last me the rest of my life, and I'm soon to be 70, so that's maybe not too far away! Ha! I also have a couple of the Yung Heng compressors, that do a good job, but having to run the water, messing with the hoses etc. can be a pain. And I don't think they will last too long if run on a daily basis. I have a couple of the large size scuba tanks, and 1 smaller tank. Having recently purchased a Huben K1, (22cal) that is capable of being charged up to 5000psi, I wanted a compressor that I could top my tanks off to 4500psi rather quickly and repeatedly without any muss or fuss. I own several PCP air rifles and pistols, but the Huben K1 is something different. It's a lot of fun, a lot of power, and being semi-automatic, I go through a lot of pellets/slugs, and air! I have it setup now to get an average of around 950fps with some 16gn Polymags, and can get around 60 shots before having to refill with air, to 4000psi. I'll post some kind of review of this compressor after I use it awhile. If anyone out there has any experience with this model, please post your thoughts. Thanks!  ;)

i have a friend that has a marine salvage and dive business.
he has one close to that one you purchased but his has a robin diesel
engine driving the compressor. It is a DAVV product but we retrofitted the diesel
engine in place of the china gas burner which did'nt last long.
he has had this for a few years and it runs daily during his excursions.
with proper maintenance, it has been a great compressor.

My new DAVV SU100 came in today. Packed well in a nice wooden crate, but all 4 tie straps holding it to the bottom were broke, and it had slid around inside the crate, and bent the pressure gauge, and fan shroud. No big deal. Put in oil, ran it for 10/15 minutes with no load. Topped off 2 large tanks and 1 smaller tank to 4000psi. It has an auto cutoff set to 4000psi, nice! Cylinders get a little hot. It comes with a whip hose to scuba screw in fitting. I changed it to a hose with a foster fitting. More frustration trying to match all these different thread types, standard pipe, metric pipe, british pipe. I even have some female foster fittings that won't except some of my male fittings. Took me dumping all my fittings on the floor, and sorting out what would fit. Pain in the rear end. Tomorrow I will drain the oil and refill with new, now that it's broke in. I think, and hope this may be a keeper. ;)

I love the picture they use in the ad!  It looks the the air gun is a break barrel, not a PCP!  Be sure to let us know how well it fills your break barrel rifles!

On a more serious note, that is one serious compressor!  LOL!  You should have gotten the gas powered one, you could load it into the bed of your truck and gone on a rampage with the K1!  Or, just fill every air gun in your neighborhood!

Ha, I noticed the springer too, but also noticed the snorkler aka "breath hold diver" aka "skin diver" in the ad. Um, nothing  but a gulp of air from the surface and down you go. (yeah, other of my hobbies).

Almost as amusing as the local tourism board TV commercials featuring clips from other states! (as done here in RI)  ::)

Well, the DAVV is still working. Takes longer than I'd like to top off a tank from 3000 to 4000 though. Around 15/20 minutes. Guess that's not too bad. It has a pressure relief vale that is not adjustable that I can tell, and is set at 4000 psi, so can't go any higher than that. The electrical pressure cut off switch is also set at 4000 psi, and when it shuts off automatically, the manual relief valve is just starting to open. Changed oil after run in, and it is staying very clean. 8)
