is a 16 grain pred to heavy for my cfx? i don't want to damage it. i read somewhere, although i dont' remember, that the recommended pellet weight is 15 grains for a springer gun... anyone chime in?
-
That's about twelve per cent over a standard 14.3. My guess is it won't hurt the gun. Anyone want to add to this?
BTW, it depends a lot upon spring thickness. For example, I should be able to safely shoot 10 grain .177 pellets in my 54, and heavier than 7.9 are really recommended. Not sure what thickness the stock CFX spring is. Gene?

Never use over 14.3 gr - but a "tad heavier" probably won't do any harm.
-
I don't think it will but u may suffer spring fatigue if that's ur main pellet u use all the time ,even for magnums I woulndt go pass 16 grains but for a reg .22 14.3 is ideal but hey I shoot .177 gamo rockets 10 grainers in my ruger blackhawk lol you should be fine bro as long as its not the go to pellet

my CFX loves 16 grain preds, and i don't want to rape it...

If the 16 grain predators are the most accurate pellet in your CFX for hunting, use them! Never sacrifice accuracy for spring life. Springs and and to a slightly lesser extent seals are like the brakes on your car. They start wearing out from day one. Springs and seals are easily replaced and are relatively inexpensive. Shoot those pellets that are the most accurate, then worry about whether you replace your spring in 3000 or 5000 shots (or whatever # you'll reach).

That's exactly what I was about to say.
I can shoot even the Eun Jin in my gas ram .22 CFX, although drop is pretty substantial beyond 20 yards.

whats the best gas ram for a cfx? for power.

16gr is fine to use but thats the upper limit

Most affordable is the Nitro Piston, which PA will install for $110, including return shipping.
I have been told by LongIslandArcher that the Theoben (www.airgunwerks.com (http://www.airgunwerks.com)) is the most powerful and smoothest, but you had better be prepared to pay about twice as much for it.
I use the Nitro Piston, and I am more than happy with it, though.
It has also held up to a couple of thousand shots.

WHAT IS EVERYONES THING ABOUT POWER?? if you cant hit what your aiming at, power dosnt mean anything
-
i can hit what i aim at, i just want to be very very sure that what i shoot, dies quickly. i do agree however, that power is useless without accuracy. i like to think i'm a good shot, and maximum energy transfer is always appreciated.
