I've had this compressor since Jan with ~ 2 hrs. runtime & it works flawlessly- Filled one tank & shutoff worked fine- left cooling running for 10 min. & shut off- went to fill another tank & fan came right on but compressor(separate switch) did not & is not lit, so I'm assuming switch was bad ( which I had happen on a Vevor). Any other thoughts? Motor fan will rotate manually so compressor not locked up.
-
Maybe try resetting the breaker on top?
-
Breaker was fine- 1st thing I tried but forgot to mention

Lol, sometimes you get lucky. There is a controller board monitoring the systems with multiple green LED lights lit up on mine.
There was an earlier report of a couple of wires on the cooling system connectors (down by the radiator area) being wrong, too. All the colored wires should match each other on both sides of the connectors is what I remember.
I would think if the switch was bad, it would still light up, but maybe not.
I'd put in a call to PA support and see what they say before doing much more.
-
Thanks for the replies, Triggertreat- reaching Pa support can be like watching grass grow LOL- got 2 calls into them in 2 days-still waiting- hate to get further in without consultation-and thinking about it, my cooler switch is lit whether running or not, so switch may not be the answer- they need complete schematics for these compressors, so someone can troubleshoot- I will grow older than my 65 yrs. waiting on a tech. Seems like the fact they own Air Venturi, that service would be a priority.Any thoughts on jumping the 2 leads going to switch? They are both hots. Just to test
-
Mine did that once in the 2 years I've had it. I unplugged it for a few minutes and it works like normal again.
-
I would call Air Venturi directly; they have always been helpful and quick to respond when I had questions or problems with my compressor. The number should be in your instructions manual. 1 (216) 220-1180

I hate to hear that. I am already out of ideas, sorry. I haven't had any issues to have to deal with any. I am sure it's coming...Subscribed...

You know, we have a PA gate here and Tyler is usually quick to respond.... maybe try a post there as well.

I don't' know if it is still the case, but in the past, PA service didn't answer the phone for customers until after 1 pm their time.

Not sure of the phone number you called for tech support. I called AV service at 226-220-1180, they gave me great customer support & service. My problem was burst disk related.
Let us know how it goes and how they resolved the issue.
-
I did that same thing too Randy now that you mention it. The service was great then for me as well.

Also wondering about fuse- found the fuse block but not sure how to access the fuse(it has a flip up on top but can't see if fuse slips in there- assume it does, but need to pull another panel to see- Still trying to contact PA & thanks again for all suggestions- sure its something simple
-
Replaced fuse- no change- still waiting on PA(3rd call in)
-
Call PA after 1 pm their time. When ask to put in number if you know the extension, hit "5" which will take you to tech service. ;)
Ask for Stacy or Boris.

I think that your switch melted a contact. You've checked everything else already. I had this happen on my compressor as well and I got it back running by replacing it with a higher quality switch from Digikey. Mfg was Bulgin:

That is a 250v switch.... would that matter?

Nope. It's rated up to 250V, so switching 125V isn't a problem.

I feel that is the issue, also- will try new one when I get it today & if it happens again will follow your suggestion- had same thing happen on Vevor. Cheap-@@@ chinese rocker switch.

Couldn't tell from the picture.... is this a four pole switch?
-
Andy,
Do you have a multimeter? It should be as simple following the confirming voltage point to point to whats not working/loose connection, faulty switch, etc.
-

I think you mean terminal, but yes it's a 4 terminal switch with the terminals having 0.25" connectors. It's a Dual Pole Single Throw switch (DPST)
-
You probably confused him totally now.
;D
-
LOL..... nope, I lost the proper word "terminal" while I was posting.
Thanks for posting... I been through a couple of the cheapies so I'll order one of these.
-
Glad to hear you don't think it means Dip Shet!
;D
-
..... and wouldn't you know it..... out of stock now.
-
Amazon or Walmart have them if you want to pay 2 to 3 times the price!
But I don't know what digikey charges for shipping so if you have prime it may be a better deal.

Amazon and Walmart have the cheapies that I have now. They come in 2 packs for like $6. I have 2 more new ones here.
-
Amazon and Walmart list the 16 amp/250v for around 6 bucks.
The one listed from Digikey is 20 amp/250v for 10+ bucks.
If your running through a 15 amp breaker circuit? Not sure you'd need a 20 amp switch.
One other area you could check is the auto shut off switch.
turn it up and down a few times as maybe it 'stuck'.
I might have done that when mine acted up that one time.
-
Don't these compressors recommend 20a? My MKII does.
-
I've been running my AV off a 15 amp circuit for 2 years now.
:P
Not tripped it yet but it is a dedicated circuit.
Very committed to it's job.
;D

I do the same on 15 amps with a beefed up extension cord. I just can't turn the compressor off and back on with say 4000 psi plus of pressure against the compressor. I get a hum instead of it running. Doesn't trip the breaker, but I don't leave it like that long either.
-
Digikey lists the 1091-1017-ND as in stock and is a 20 Amp/250v for $3.91
Same switch but not with the fancy red glow.
-
If you want the illuminated one:
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/bulgin/C1353AABR2-B/1091-1154-ND/3459589 (https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/bulgin/C1353AABR2-B/1091-1154-ND/3459589)
It's the same switch function and dimensions as the switch I originally mentioned, but it's in stock. If you don't care for illumination, the switch Jeff mentioned is also good. I also own the non-illuminated switch that Jeff mentioned and I keep it around as a spare.
Once I saw how my original switch failed and melted the contact, I had absolutely no problem spending the little money on a higher rated switch.
-
Got it, thanks.
The original on my Vevor cooked. I bought 4 of the cheapies on Amazon and cooked 2 of those. I borrowed the one from my MKII and it does good. Now I'm going to reseal my MKII and I want a good switch.
The reason I was cooking them so easy was because I was using a 100' construction power cord. Now I have a 10' 20amp cord..
-
The next time you dig into your Vevor, check the quality of the wire crimp on 4 quick disconnect terminals. Mine were somewhat shoddy from day 1 and I always noticed my power cord was a little hotter than I'd like it to be, even without any extension cord. When I went to replace my switch, I cut off the 4 original connections and recrimped with my own stuff. After that, the temperature of my power cord went down by at least half, so that told me there was some excess resistance somewhere that I got rid of.
-
Thanks Andy, I have new connectors down in the shop... I'll replace them.
-
To everyone- Thanks for the replies- got my switch in & all is good-is the one mentioned above for the compressor side?(as it's 1/2 the width of the cooler switch(and does not light up) cause I want one that will stand up. I'll have to measure it to compare to the Digikey. But all is good, my brothers!
-
Again ,Thanks to all-After dealing with cheap Chinese compressors(Vevor & Tuxing) I had had it-after much research, I decided on the Air Venturi(still Chinese but much better parts & build- so with this I was BS.! + my tester(voltmeter) was left on, so trying to follow the obvious(K.I.S.S. principle)-check motor/compressor-good, now go simple-power flow- had bad switch on Vevor, so 1st guessn & SCORE!Now I can sleep @ night & not have anger mgmt. problems ! LOL- And until proved wrong, PA service not worthy!- Went to change/ check tampon filter, come to find THERE WAS NO F***ing filter! Took 3 weeks to get it done, but I had to clean out filter casing internals because of NO FILTER- Call me PETTY, but I would like to believe that spending $1600 on their product that service would be paramount & easily accessible(Pyramid-are you listening? RANT DONE & thanks again
-
LOL..... pretty sure even your BMW dealer don't get a shipment of the latest models in and tear them down for inspection before selling you one.
-
Glad to read you're back in action! Looks like you had a defective switch to start out with, which can happen. Knock-on-wood all else is good. Mine has lasted well over a year without issues so far.

Yes, .it's been a struggle in the compressor dept. LOL 2 cheapo Chinese that I got sick of re-building, so went big(for me) & got this one & love it.Good design, runs cool, fills my 45 min. tanks with little effort so hoping it lasts( been running it for 7 months( 2 1/2 hrs.) Switch was just a bump in the road( had to replace one on my Vevor) Thanks again for everyones input
-
Update!- Pa. finally got back to me & agreed to re-imburse me for cost of switch & shipping, so all good again
