Title: Motorhead Tune of My RWS 460
Post by: Yarddog on July 18, 2019, 12:19:22 PM
Folks, I sent my almost new RWS 460 to Scott less than two weeks ago, and it returned an entirely different rifle!  I was VERY happy with the rifle, it was very accurate, but I just wanted it to be smoother and nicer to shoot.  I don't care about magnum power, and if a Diana 430 had been available in .22, I probably would have bought it!

The rifle returned extremely well packaged, and without going into a lotta detail as to what he did to it, the 460 was now just the smoothest, easiest air rifle to shoot. Easy and smooth cocking, good solid shot cycle, and a WHOLE lot quieter!  And it didn't lose anything with regard to accuracy...haven't shot it enough know if it's actually improved.  Scott touched up the trigger, very crisp and light now.

There were a couple of reasons that I chose Scott over the other fine, knowledgeable tuners that are available.  First off, he is based in my home state.  But more importantly, I have been VERY impressed with his knowledge and willingness to help others on this, and other, forums!  He seems to be a down-home kind of guy, yet a guy who just tells it as it is!  When he was basically done with the tune, he took the time to call me, and we chatted about this and that, and the rifle too, for a while.  Very good guy to talk to.

I will be sending along my Beeman HW97K to him shortly.  It shoots great, but I'd like to get rid of the twang, and I'm certain that when I get it back, there will be other improvements that I didn't realize that it needed until things change!  I'd highly recommend Scott/Motorhead to anybody contemplating a tune!

Totally agree.

I recently submitted a post with the same sentiments about Motorhead Tuning Services.

Scott recently added a HUMA to my Daystate Huntsman Regal XL .22 caliber and replaced all the O rings, lapped the barrel, loosened and lubed the bolt action, etc...Very pleased!  Now shoots the JSB 15.89 at approximately 815-825 FPS which is enough for me.
I got the rifle back and it is a laser at anything between 10-40 yards.

I do also regularly target shoot at 50 yards and occasionally 100 yards as well, and it is capable of very good groups at those distances with the right wind and conditions.  However, primary use is using as a Squirrel gun for pest control and back yard plinking.
