Title: non pal 2260?
Post by: Walther on July 13, 2019, 01:36:41 PM
Hey Bob what do you recommend for building a non pal 2260 carbine for Canadian regs.
I imagine a smooth tube would make it simpler legal wise?
Cheers

The 2260 tube is a rifle tube, but if you are staying under 500 fps it won't matter what you start with, IMO.... You should be able to use a stock valve, and relatively low pressure, depending on barrel length.... A 2260 can exceed 500 fps on CO2, so that could be a good reason to use an unmarked tube, IDK, otherwise if the 2260 is a PAL gun you could have to prove yours was under 500....

I built a regulated bottle gun using a 3000 psi, 13 CI tank and had to drop the regulator pressure wayyyyyyyy down to stay under 500 fps with a 24" barrel....

I attached the tank block directly to the tube, no plenum, so no pressure in the tube....

Using only a 750 psi setpoint I got this string with only a 2000 psi fill....

I don't think you would lose a lot with a shorter barrel on such a mild tune.... and could certainly get what you need using a paintball regulator....

That was my thinking , that by using a smooth tube would make me the manufacturer and up to me to decide its fps intended(non pal) . I plan on a fps around 460 , just a low range plinker.
I plan on making up a name/model and fps designation, and have it engraved on the side of the hammer section of the tube.
I plan on doing the bstaley mod and combined with hammer spring trimming ie no power adjuster just to make not easy upon inspection to make shoot harder.

Thank you for your Help   :D

Alain, that is just a 1/8" NPT Hex Pipe Nipple.... I drilled and tapped the front of the valve and then added a drilled spacer for the spring....

Dunno what happened to Mr. Cothran's site:

No longer accessible.

He does make beautiful parts; have ordered from him 3x:

This is the 2260 tube with a custom C02 plug he made for me:

Sold it unused with the ss DC cone power adjuster though because I found it too heavy---ordered another ss 2250/2400KT tube with custom C02, and built my pseudo Crosman 22xx around it.

Many thanks to you Bob!
I think I will use it for a compact build of a 2240..
