Title: Downsize / post pictures
Post by: throbinskin on July 09, 2019, 02:09:33 AM
I would like to post 4 pics of my new PCP and Targets I made...  What is the popular way everyone is using to downsize picture to post!  I'm only finding old info on youtube that seems outdated.  What are people using today?  I have a Windows PC

Since you have Windows, I would open the pic in Photo, then right click pic and choose resize.  I would then choose "Define custom dimensions".  Once there, move the slider to 50 or 60% quality, and then click "Saved resized copy".  Right click the new saved pic and select properties to see the new size and to verify it fits within the GTA guidelines.

Attached is one I did that came out to 528KB from 3 MB when selecting 50% on the slider.

Resizing causes a loss of quality. I personally recommend loading your photos to an online host and using Insert Image to post the link. There are two tutorials in Liz's Forum Help Desk explaining how to post photos. Good luck.

I use a free photo hosting site called imgur so I don't have to fill my hard drive with images, plus the hosting site keeps the pics safe if my hard drive "barfs". Initially I used PhotoBucket but lost my images when PB held them "for ransom" requiring money to access a few years of pics. I simply cancelled the PhotoBucket account and started over using imgur.

imgur pics can be "sized" in a couple ways. One way is to "auto size" them when uploading. This pic (actually a "screen shot") was "auto sized" to 640x480 (message boards)........

I usually don't auto-size my pics when uploading to imgur (resize set to none). I usually choose "Large Thumbnail" from this list when posting as I did with this pic (actually a "screen shot")........
For this forum "BBCode (message boards & forums)" works well for me when attaching a pic.

Using the imgur "Large Thumbnail" option without "auto sizing"........

I've also created "folders" in imgur for my pics so I can "find what I'm looking for".............

Hope this help more than confuses!

I take the photos with my phone. I then send a text with the photo as an attachment to my email, it will resize nicely.
