Hello all,
I took the leap and purchased my first big bore. Picked up a Lee pot and a 113 gr mold. My initial outing was not stellar as I was only able to group just under 4” at 100 yards. I picked up the Lee because it was cheap, available on Amazon, and I wanted some practice casting. It seems the NOE molds see the Cat's meow but which bullet weight? A fellow .308 shooter tells me that the 1:14 barrel twist prefers the heavy bullets around 150 gr.

My .308 SS loves most things NOE, but lighter. Such as the pellets and the 106 HP (comes out to 98 gr with my alloy). It also likes JSB and Predator Polymag pellets.

This is the most accurate bullet in my friends .30 Texan once you get past mid-range 50/60 yards.

He cast them in 1:40, I know because he's using my casting setup and sizers. He's casting hot, around 940, so the bullet shrinks more then sizing to .308.
Note I got rid of the .30 Texan I bought when they first came out because it shot nothing well, including pellets... but now some guys guns are doing better based on his results and what I'm reading here.

I just spent a bunch of time typing a detailed response to your inquiry. Unfortunately for some reason it was all lost when I tried to post for some stupid reason. As a .308 Texan owner that suffered greatly at first and now have a tack driving gun, I may be able to save you some grief. Feel free to message me as I'm not going to retype what took me 30 minutes to lose.
