Title: Help with 1300 decision, .177 vs. .22
Post by: SwampHunter on June 12, 2019, 11:33:14 AM
Ok guys n girls so here is my issue, looking at a ccs1300 and I want a .22 with the lw barrel. Currently the 1300kt isn't offered with a .22 lw barrel, only the Co2 guns in the CCS
Reasons I want a .22
I hunt small game and feel .22 is better suited for that
I have lots of .22 pellets
Hard for my fat fingers to load .177, I have a 1377 classic that is frustrating to load pellets in WITHOUT a scope.
I have no .177 guns so no pellets to try

Reasons to get a .177
This is the only caliber the LW barrel is offered in
Flatter shooting on a lower powered gun?
Possibly the platform is better suited?

Have had bad experience with factory crosman .22 barrels and really want something that is super accurate. So, what do y'all recommend? I have heard that once you buy a CCS gun then you can buy parts for any of them?If so I could purchase the .22 LW barrel for the 2400kt and put on it. Also heard that unless you buy a lw barrel you can't order the lw barrel, and that you can only buy the parts specific to the gun you purchased.

Have you tried to call them to see if they will build you a 1300KT with a .22 LW barrel?  If it's available for other CCS guns, then I can't see why the wouldn't be able to.

Honestly haven't thought of that lol, thank you

I'd recommend considering some other gun entirely if you are wanting it for hunting.
Reason being: slow fps in .22. Some 460 fps?

My 1377 only wounds even the smallest birds. So, I don't shoot at critters with it. (unless I'm wanting to, ahem, wet them off like that coon that was raiding the hawk's nest in my back yard,)

You may want to chrony your 1377 and see if there is anything wrong with it.  Even my Daisy  953 shooting at 500 fps can push a pellet through a starling at 15-20 yards.

I chrony'd it last weekend and was getting about 600fps. I can't remember the pellet weight but they were light pellets.
I don't mean to thread jack here.

I killed thousands of sparrows with a Daisy 99 champion and a Crosman 760 growing up on the farm. They were not wearing Kevlar however. It does not take much to kill a sparrow.

I have shot lots of HOSP with 2 pumps at 8 yards with my 1322.  My 1322 has a stock power plant with a 11 inch disco barrel. There is not much to hit in small birds, and you can wound them if you dont hit them square on. At 2 pumps I have never had a wadcutter not punch straight through a HOSP.

Have a 1322 carbine, 14” bbl, shortened valve-spring.

Otherwise, valve is stock. 12 pumps throws .22 Hobbies @ 560, with just the slightest puff of air retained.

Kills big fox squirrels stone-dead. I prefer .22, for the usual reasons😊

I'm very happy with my 1300KT carbine as well.  18-inch .22 barrel.  As delivered, it did about 540 with 14.3 Crosman Premiers at 12 pumps.  With FTP, modded valve, extended probe, and 2100 hammer spring, it does about 605-610 at 12 pumps, 660-665 at 15 pumps, and 710-715 at 20 pumps.

Just get the 1300 with a LW barrel. When the gun arrives call and order a .22 barrel from Crosman. Then order a Hollow .22 probe from Alchemy or Alliance. Now you have options and cheap. All of my pump guns are .177. Cheap, quiet, fast and safer if you are shooting some place that you have to worry about errant pellets. Big power in .22 is much easier and less tiring in a PCP or springer.

since you bought from CCS order the LW barrel works on pumpers and C02 though I cant tell the difference between Crosman barrel and LW for accuracy.Perhaps Crosman barrels have improved.

Sounds like it's getting the job done, how far is your range in the fox-S ?
