Title: Crosman 2300KT Info
Post by: Mike-Nashville on May 24, 2019, 08:08:40 PM
I would like to know if anyone stocks parts for the crosman 2300KT other than Crosman.  I need a bolt assemble for mine so I called Crosman and was told they were out of stock and it might be 4 weeks or longer before they could get one.  The lady was nice but had no idea when they actually expected the part.  Any ideas or help would be appreciated,  Thanks

Don Cothran sells some nice Crosman bolts in both St/St and Brass, also custom bolt handles.

The one I had was brass and the handle broke off in the bolt. I tried getting the broken part out but did not make is and figured it might be just about as easy to get a new one.  If he has the brass I will pick one up.  Thanks and I will google him and see if he has want I want.   Mike

+1

If you get the bolt probe out of the gun, you can drill out the broken part where it was peened over, then just use a HSS capscrew shoulder bolt cut to the correct size.  My 2240 sat this way for over a  year.  I used trimmed down the threaded section so it wouldn't thread all the way through, then chucked it up in a drill to remove the 1mm "shaft" width so it didn't bind as I worked it through the action's machined groove.

Personally, I'd rather be shooting than waiting, even if just for a few days.  This would also be a great time to replace that guide with a section of icemaker tubing for the TP.  The Crosman CO2 guns definitely benefit from this.  Though then I'd be tempted to add an RVA and tune accordingly- as I did on my modified 2240, now 1740.

Dang it, now I wanna dig into my CO2 guns for no reason other than "cuz I can".

The best way to avoid the handle breakage is to get the shortest handle that suites your needs..and the St/St will hold up better than the brass. Since Don is fairly close to you (Miss) he ought be able to send what you need pretty quickly.

I took the advice of Fivestar45 and contacted Don.  He called me and I am ordering the parts from him.  At his prices I can hardly pass up getting brand new parts.  Thanks all for the advice and I guess I need to spend more time with my Crosman 2300 and see what it is actually capable of.  Look into the modifications and improvements that will make this an even sweeter little jewel.

Be prepared to be awed of DC's parts.

I have his breeches, tubes, etc. but they are all in stainless-'-beautiful creations.

I got an extended probe and handle in SS from Alchemy for $28 shipped.  Got it pretty fast too.  It was well made, but I chucked it in my drill as soon as it arrived and made the probe even thinner and slightly shorter.
