I've owned this Trapmaster 1100 for 3 or 4 years. It hangs on the wall in our home. IIRC a shot shell came apart and some #8 shot got into it. It shoots but leaks.
I would rip into any PCP, Springer or pumper but for some reason, this one intimidates me. It does have bit of sentimental value to me that I won't go into right now. Some have already heard the story.
Anyways.... I know Tim at MAC1 will work on these and he has a hot valve he can install.... matter of fact I talked to him 30 minutes ago. He wants $85 plus shipping.
I also read an old blog that mention Rick at Precision Pellet can reseal them as well. I have dealt with Rick before and he is a great guy. I haven't called him on this one yet.
So, without bashing anyone... any recommendations?

seal kit available on ebay...search item# 173883269122

Yeahhhh... I know but, like I said, I'd rather have someone with experience do this one.
Might have something to do will all these misc. pieces and parts I got laying around.... they came from somewhere ya know... :-\
-
ask him about doing the work, he is a crosman repair shop
-
I had mac work on mine....no issues.
-
For a long time here on the "old" Yellow, Mac1 was a forbidden name to post..don;t know what the dispute was, don't really care...hopefully it's water under the bridge by now.
Burt as a tale....sent a Croamsn 150 in for a rebuild back in about 1983...likely it was this MAc's father that did the work. Gave it away about 1989, but talked to the owner about two months ago, and it's still running.
I don't know what o-ring material or hardness rating "poppa-Mac" used..but evidently it lasts.

I just can't get off the fence. I said in another thread that I wanted to keep this gun original because of the history. Then I talked to Tim and he said most people put the hot valve in them. There is no doubt in my mind that Tim's work is top notch. But, do I want to go that route.... do I want to wait a month?
On the other hand.... I've dealt with Rick on occasion.... that dude is like the Mike Mellick of Crosmans. He'll share his knowledge and let you decide which way you want to go. I think he just may be the man to bring this thing back just like it came out of the box.
Maybe I should wait and give him a call and see what he has to say. Not sure of his weekend hours. I didn't get a chance to call today.

AB Airguns resealed mine and does great work. Fast turn around time if I recall.
-
Thanks... I have another gun coming that don't have the sentiment behind it as this one does. I'm going to crack that one open and try my hand at sealing it and use it as a learning tool.

seal kit available on ebay...search item# 173883269122
Thanks John...
The practice gun offered to me will be here on Friday and the seal kit will be here on Saturday.
And thank you Andy for the gun.
The weekend promises rain so it's a good time to hunker in the shop and tear into this project.

Ask Motorhead he might do it for you.

Thanks Travis... Andy (Vigilandy) is sending me one that needs a reseal. It don't have the sentimental value as the other one does. I'll take a stab at it. If I fail then I'll see if Scott is willing to help me out.
I almost sold this gun once.. then my good friend and neighbor that gave it to me passed away. I'm so glad I didn't sell it. It originally belonged to his uncle that passed. I just feel compelled to keep it as close to original as possible. If not for that I would ship it off to Timmy Mac for the upgrades.
-
Timmy Mac is top notch. He got tired of Steves arrogance, (owner of the yellow) an said so. result, banned. Almost a badge of honor in the airgun world. LOL ;)

There's a beautiful looking Trapmaster 1100 on ebay right now, I'm sure that the bidding on this one will go sky high by the end of the bidding time. I have it on my watch list right now.
-
I'm gonna start downloading all the how to's and reading the blogs today so I can get some kind of understanding of the reseal. I remember reading something awhile back about things going 'boing' when you open it.
-
That 1100 Trapmaster went for $318 that I was watching on Ebay . . . I figured it would go for a lot but not that much.
-
Don't surprise me none. Before Ray passed I put mine on the classifieds for $200 but got no takers. After Ray passed I was very glad it didn't sell. Work has been crazy stupid and the practice TM is sitting on the bench waiting for me.
-
Ebay seems to really drive the prices up on the vintage stuff. That 1100 looked like brand new though.
-
It's an interesting gun for sure... When I show it to non airgun folks they are stupified.
-
I'd like to have one of the Seneca Wingmasters, them are neat guns !!!

I have a friend that does sporting clays, he has both, the tm 1100 and the sy wlngshot.
2 different worlds indeed.
He has taken dove with the wingshot 8)

John back when there were still pheasant here in Michigan I had a blast hunting them, they were super good eating too. It would be nice if they made a comeback, we can still hunt them but it's rare to even see one these days. Use to be able to just pick out a field anywhere and take a walk through it and kick up 3 or 4 of them without even having a dog.

Looking at the Blog , that is one technical interior!
-
Exactly the reason for the practice gun.
-
Up to my elbows in it this morning...
It don't look as bad inside as I expected. I'm not going to post pics along the way because the blog I linked to above has better pics and step by step than I could do plus, I don't want to stop and clean my hands and such to handle the camera.
-
This has to be the scariest part so far...
(I'm using pics from the blog here)
Getting that end out of the valve body with the gunk that was keeping it in without kinking the brass tube was tedious to say the least. I finally had to cut a piece of wooden dowel to fit into the it against the hammer and drive it out with a hammer.
It was sketchy because I was driving against the valve spring and had to whack it pretty good.
-
Folks... there are a ton of screws and keeping them in order to insure proper reassembly is a challenge.
The other issue is getting to a stopping point before being distracted. I got the new orings in and the valve back together when Betty Lou called me up to the house for breakfast.
-
My printer is out of ink and I don't have internet access in the shop. It's a metal building so the wireless from the house won't connect. So, I'm running back and forth to check the blog each step of the way and completing that step from memory... not my strongest asset.
-
My metal pole barn has no signal either.
That is one of its GOOD points... Off the grid so to speak. ;)
-
I hate to admit it but this Trapmaster may just be the first gun repair I walk away from. I'm taking a break from it now. We're gonna go dip the boat in the water soon as the pie comes out of the oven.

Hopefully the pie and fishing trip will give you a chance to recharge and take another shot at the trapmaster. If not, there's still Mac1. :D

Yeah, I told Betty Lou that I may end up sending the my original TM to MAC1. I don't want the power mods, just reseal it. I'll keep tinkering at the practice gun. We have a couple week shut down coming up next week at work. I'll have time to spend with it. There is alot of stuff crammed inside of those clam halves. I'll get it, I just have to walk away from time to time. I certainly would NOT offer to reseal someone else's trapmaster.
