Title: Big bottle and adapters for Condor
Post by: SAGERAT NITEMARE on May 20, 2019, 09:18:58 PM
(https://i.ibb.co/FV8dYFM/IMG-0024.jpg) (https://ibb.co/3zSPFnq)

Pic of my 48 CI "big bottle" and adapter and BIGGER 62 CI bottle plus a 4500 psi 22 CI bottle.  I have 4 other adapters in the making...two for 5/8-18UNF to M18-1.5 and visa versa, a 1" drop block for 5/8 UNF and one for the M18-1.5.

I guarantee I will be able to mix and match my AF TalonP and Condor to several size bottles.  I know...WHY???   AND THE ANSWER IS BECAUSE I CAN and I like to tinker.

Both tanks OD's are the same 3 5/8"...one just over 8" and the other just over 10".  The need to be offset to the opposite side of your shooting side by ≈1"...as is I have to crook my head/neck some to get on high ringed scope.  Some of that can be addressed in the angled offset depending on how the bottle orientation ends up when the valve and bottle are screwed down.

Having fun

Nice

Been doing it for a long time. Works better if you put the gauge and fill nipple on it. Then you can unscrew the tank. Plus you don't have to clock the angle with the valve to make it line up.

I have a fixture that holds them. If only I could find where I put.

Well yes and no...I thought about gutting and drilling out a paintball valve and installing it between the bottle and the adapter...just as simple to do, would add another inch or so and clocking just requires a bit of "shaving" the valve end once it is put all together and marked.  After futzing with a few drawings decided "down and dirty" would work for my applications.

These are only for the AF's and once set up I doubt I will be swapping to smaller CI bottles anyway..."swap-ability" is overrated I think but a good selling point always.  I build/buy guns for killing and want the highest power I can get...I hate wasting ammo on targets except for sighting in and determining the accuracy of bullets/pellets.

Being a "fiddler" I would go nuts diddling with a Dreamline or any other FX for that matter...but Hey...if you like adaptability and changeability then go for it.

Did you make the angled connector???  I don't have the equipment to turn one nor want to spend the time building "jigs" or set up a 4 jaw and I'm WAY TOO cheap to buy one.

You did build the whole rifle didn't you...very nice job. 8)  Always wanted to be a machinist but life dictated otherwise so I just "play at it".

Good Hunting ;D

What would be a good option for you is to place a high pressure tube in place of the bottle and use it as your PLENUM and place a drop down receiver for a regulated bottle underneath the tube..You would MAXIMIZE THE SPACE behind the valve and gain in consistency..

That's nicely done😎

Gett'n' complicated.

I have a regulator for the Condor but it drops the velo down to 600 fs from ≈1100 and no real way to adjust the pressure upwards like a paintball valve.

I could also use a paintball bottle shut-off and make a simple angled straight through adapter and stay with bottle pressure...I think 48 to 62 CI will give me quite a few fairly uniform velo shots before dropping off.

Again my object  is simplicity and home built...I have 4 regulated airguns and am looking a several other regulated airguns in 30 cal and 357 cal...at least one to acquire withing the next 3 months or so.

I like to fiddle but not THAT much...besides I have a ton of other projects in front giving me the evil eye because I haven't started on them yet.

Good ideas tho'...worth consideration in future maybe.

Good Hunting

I think adding a regulator and a drop/angle adapter would have solved the "problem" but I'm TOTALLY CHEAP...even the $85 JDSairman's regulator was too 'spensive for me...at least for a little while...anything over 5 dollars takes me several days of thinking to turn loose of. ::) hahahahahahahaha

Can't figure it out...I have NO PROBLEM dropping 10-30 large on a motorcycle, boat or truck...it's just the small change the causes me the redazz. ??? :o

Good Hunting

Veeeeeery interesting solution. For bullpup PCPs probably better then  location at front .
Do you have more info about these  gun ?

I have no more info since it was a link on a Russian video...  I just follow the Russian posting because their approach with airgun is different. … Edgun was a pionner with bull pup seeing..

This kind of AIRFORCE setup since their  shooting single loading is APPROPRIATE with the  reversed tank at the back following with the regulator and plenum behind the valve

No..Alain...I'm just CHEAP, but still a "tweeker".  I have two 25 cal AF's to change around and several paintball regulators to increase the output's on...I will get where I want to go in time...it's just mechanics.

D-100...I found your other posts on this subject and recognized the accessories for the AF...you gave me some other ideas to play with...Thanks.

I do wish there was a "sticky" where information like this on tank changes and other additions could be posted...sure would make it easier for newbie's to get started, and it's the same on just about any forum.

I spent most of last winter researching and sorting.  It has been said AF's are the "Leggos" of the airgun world...lots of info out there but scattered all over under different headings and lots of ways to "make it your own". 8)

This sort of "wildness" is only for a few anyway.

Good Hunting.

This fine Memorial weekend started out nice but the rain will come tonight and off and on for the next several days.

Motorcycles, 4 wheelers and camper/trailers all over the place and the fishing holes and camp sites filled to the gills.  Being retired I leave all this to the workin' folks...I live in the middle of a pine forest and can get all the "camping" I want just by throwing down my sleeping bag on the  ground outside my house...besides the woods are full of dogs, kids, adults, atv's, boom boxes and TV's and they ALL are intent on burning down everything in sight.

I'm having brunch and looking at a .175 x 2.0 x 2.75  block of aluminum all squared up and layed out  ready to start milling and drilling.  When it's finished it will be a 1" drop x .75" offset adapter with a ≈.500 CI plenum chamber.  The regulator valve is on order.

I chrono'ed 5 - 52 gr NSA HP pellets in my Condor  at 955 fs/≈105 #ft, ES 6 fs, at #8/16 setting...not too shabby I'm thinking.

I already fired 2-3 shot groups  basically one hole at 50 yds...benchresters would call them 1 and a quarters...basically .125" larger than bullet diameter...again really great.

Having trouble with O rings...the ones for paintball bottles don't seem to work with the bottles I have, they keep blowing out....the OD are too small...I need something about .750 OD x 0.060-0.065 cross section...the same as those that came on the Condor/Talon valves.  Just have to dig around to find some.

Not sure if I'm going to go to 30 cal...After looking at some of the .457 cal vids I'm very impressed...besides I have a lot of 45 cal  molds for my 458 cannons and all the casting equipment and having a 62 CI bottle in place of the 30 CI standard tank will double the shot count...just how many shots do you need anyway when actually hunting game of the size this cal requires.

Anyway...dream on.

Good hunting.

That is a condor that I modified. It is a .375. To run the larger calibers with big valves the gun needs to cock with the hammer and the breech is just open and close.  Also breech has to be aluminum.

Here is a pic of the adapter. I just made a piece that will chuck up in my lathe. Put it in my mill and bore a hole in the center at 5 degrees. I'm still trying to find where I put it. Haven't used it for 3 or 4 years and can't seem to find it. I even sent it with out for black oxide with some parts so its all black and pretty. Just need to find it.

Found it.

It is about 5 degree down and maybe 2bdegree out to the right.

Neat jig...I probably should do something like that but I will futz around with a bunch of messes and waste time before I will do the obvious right thing...my usual activity.

My lathe and mill aren't all that accurate or precise and really no good way to keep points locked in, so repeatability is just a dream away.

Now that I'm using a square block and need to cut a 10° angle and bore a 10° hole I think it might be easier just to use my small vice and hold it in the 4 jaw...I CAN keep a thou or less tir that way.

Anyway...it's always fun and a way to keep my quickly deteriorating mind active.

Good Hunting.
