Have all the airgunners left Missouri, or What?!? Its been just about 6 months now since Anyone has posted anything on here.... where is everyone? Is there ANYBODY in SW MO. that is seriously looking for others to shoot with?
Shooting by oneself is fine....for a while. I'm located in the area of Stocton Lake, about 4 miles west of it... anyone in the area at all who is really into the airguns and enjoys shooting with others, as I do?

Well why didn’t you say so ? :D. I like to shoot and I have a nephew or two who like to shoot. I’m a couple three hours away but for a Saturday adventure , it would be just about right..........I’m currently fighting cancer though so my timing may be a little inconvenient but maybe we can work something in.

Thanks for your reply.... yeah, its been "a little slow" alright, completely "dead" for Missouri for many Months now. This time last year my wife & I were at the "Reunion" and was wanting to be there this year (this weekend - right now), but due to reroofing the house recently and other expenses, it just wasn't to be this year. :( Ohhh well, perhaps next year if there is one.
I see you were in Nam as well.... I got there just a week before the TET offensive in 68 (up in the A Shau Valley (aka "death valley") for the first 13 months), then was fortunate enough to be accepted to fly with the "infamous" Outlaws and Maverick Gun team out of the (war within the war) Vinh Long Airfield in the Delta... left in mid-November of 1970. From one VN vet to another.... Welcome Home, Brother!!

I know that I've let my airgunning slip this last year. After building a new house on 20 acres three years ago I thought I would do a lot of shooting but getting everything fixed up, trying to get a yard established, completing my shop in the shed, and then there's grand kid baseball. I won a guppy tank at the GTA shoot last year and yesterday received a new TalonSS in .22 and bought a chronograph so I should be doing a lot more shooting. I am also working on making some targets for the grand kids to shoot at. If anyone wants to come by and do some shooting just PM me and we can make arrangements, I east of Columbia.

Hello "Unk"....
Thank you for your reply!.... and so sorry to hear of what you're dealing with... will keep you in prayer for complete healing!! Yes, PM me on here if you wish, and hopefully we can get together and enjoy some trigger time... would be fun. I have lots of targets to shoot at... everything from paper, to cans of all sorts, to numerous steel "reaction" targets.
Where abouts are you located ?
Am off to work (part-time - hauling corn, grain, etc), and will be gone for a couple of days - should be back home here by Wednesday evening (June 5th) sometime... or Thursday morning at the latest will check my messages on here when get back home.
Thanks again... will be in touch.

Hello Teep,
Thanks for your reply...it's been a while since I last had any contact with you.
Sounds like you have some land to shoot on... I only have a couple of acres here.... but, it's open land as far as I can see on the other side of the fence line behind me, and have permission to shoot to my southwest from the landowner there.. as he lives about 4 miles from here. : )
I think you're about 4 or 5 hours east of me, I'm just over an hour east of the KS. state line and about 2+ hours south/southeast of KC... stay in touch (PM if you wish) and perhaps we can get together and spend some trigger and "shop talk" time... would be fun. :)
We were at the GTA Reunion last year as well.... was a great time. Missed it this year and thankful we did.... would have come home to a swimming pool in my basement (shop & indoor range), if we had gone as we were planning to.
Need to head off to my part-time job now (am "retired").... "should be" back by Wed. evening (June 5th)... if not, by sometime Thursday morning... will check back on here, then.
Take care, Teep.... don't work too hard! :)

Hey Jim, sorry for the late reply! I’ve been fighting with chemo lately and I wasn’t winning. They are letting me rest up for a couple weeks but then I have to toughen up. I will be off the clinical trial if I have to miss again and that’s not bueno with stage 4 PC.
I’m up just north of the Kansas City airport in Camden Point , but I used to get down your way pretty regularly. I’m afraid those days may be numbered now but I do appreciate the prayers my friend ! I’ll try to PM you if and when I can get back to some sense of normalcy. I love shooting in the shooting matches here in the shooting match gates ! You should give it a whirl! Its all for fun and I find 5hem satisfying.
Thanks again !

Hello Eric,
How are YOU doing?.... are you gaining at all in your struggle with the cancer? I AM praying for you.... and like everything else, I place it all in the Lords "hands".... but am continuing to pray for you... and have been, even though you haven't heard from me til now.
PLEASE... let me know how you're doing, if nothing else.. okay?
Please forgive me for the long hiatus in responding back to you... have had serious issues with an internet outage here in this area... just finally got it all back again last Thursday, but was gone since last Friday morning (June 21st), as it was my 70th b-day (Yikes!!) on Sat. and my wife had made plans with others down around the Branson area... was kind of an "adventure" weekend, had all kinds of things lined up for me over the weekend... was great.
Just acquired two more air rifles from a neighbor (Korean Vet) for $40... a "Ruger" Blackhawk Elite (.177) and a Chinese B-5 underlever (.22 cal). I am going to try tuning both... have done a few others of my own, already and they came out very nice actually. My good friend Mike Melick up in Iowa has been helping me with lots of tips on the tuning... he and his wife stopped by our place for a day on the way down to the Airgun Show in Malvern, AR. last month... we both have the same lathes, but I have a newer vertical mill which I just got from Grizzly last year, so he gave it a try... said he liked it more than his (it's bigger, with a 26 & 3/4" "table" - his is 15") and may have to get one for more room to work on.... IF, he doesn't decide to "hang it up".
Anyway Eric.... I'm Really wanting to know how your doing, so as you feel up to it.. would love to hear back from you again.
Take care and Lord Bless you & yours,
Jim

Hey Jim,
Thanks for checking on me ;D
I am ok, I am slowly getting worse but they are trying to keep me going for a while :). I am on a clinical trial that is keeping me alive for the time being but the effects of the drug are pretty grim. In my three week cycle I go from nausea for 8-10 days to crippling neuropathy for 6-7 days sometimes overlapping, then a few good days . I don’t know if it’s worth it to me to keep going but the drug shows promise for the future and I would like to give my Oncologist as much good data as I can before I have to give up.
I know that sounds horrible but it really is just the normal process. The Good Lord has blessed me with an incredibly full life of traveling around the world meeting some of the most wonderful people I could ever meet. I have family and friends who care deeply and look in on me constantly to make this all tolerable . And while I don’t care for constantly feeling ill on the way I have no misgivings about the eventual end.
Do join us for the shooting matches if you have a chance ! I hope it doesn’t sound too corny but I relish these as a distraction and a way to Guage my well being through this. My family sometimes thinks I’m crazy for trying to get these matches done when I’m sickly but I feel like it helps me cope, especially with the neuropathy. I have days like today where I might only be able to shoot some 5m pistol targets on the porch and some days I can’t shoot at all, but it’s always in the back of my mind to try to get outside and feel better ;D
Thank you for the thoughts and Prayers ! It may not seem like it to other people but I am truly blessed and thankful for everything the Lord has provided me in my lifetime :)
Thank You again Jim !
Eric

Hello Eric,
So sorry for the delay... been working and away from the internet for a short spell.
Not the news I wanted to hear from you... but, am SO Thankful knowing that you know who your Lord & Saviour is.. AMEN!?! I will continue to pray for you... and your family for His presence, peace and joy to fill all your hearts to overflowing and for His removal of the consequences of the drugs.
I did look to see how the on-line shooting match works... but I can't download & print the targets, as I have no printer.... but I do have a couple of thousand (literally!) plus, paper targets of various types for pistol and rifle at various ranges (distances).... so, I guess I can use my 10M Rifle targets? and others for whatever distances (out to 25 yards?) their monthly match is?
I'm working on developing my "tuning skills" as I want to get into doing some airgun tuning as a little extra income, plus... I just thoroughly enjoy doing it, and I'm a "nit-picker" for paying attention to detail...... my dad taught me years ago, that "the quality & longevity in anything.. is found in the most minute details".... and that has proven true to me, many hundreds of times over... through the years.
I have some good tutoring in my learning curve from a very good friend of ours (my wife and I) up in Iowa... Mike Melick (& his wife), he has shown and taught me quite a bit.... especially on the Chinese made guns. Many people don't realize that Mike not only sells and tunes Chinese airguns... but he is also sought after by more than just one manufacturer (although, primarily One mfgr.) for doing research & development work on new prototype airguns as well.
I have watched him literally take every single gun he sells... completely apart and go through it to make sure the customer will not have any issues with it when they get it, and he always puts new piston seals in them while it's apart..... After, he hones the tube to remove any sharp edges so as not to damage the new seal upon re-assembly, and he always makes sure the barrel is Straight before he ships it.... all that for free, and the customers don't even know that he has done that for them.... he is one of the most honest and sincere people I have met in a very long time, especially in the "business world".
My wife and Mikes wife have become very good friends over the last five years or so (we were married in Dec. 2012 - I'm from Montana), as they have lots in common to share with each other, and are always emailing back and forth... more so than Mike and I do, and we've known each other much longer. lol :)
Anyway.... sure wish you & I could have met about 4 years ago or so, when I first "discovered" (by "accident") the GTA Forum... could of had some good shooting time together... and sharing of the Lord & His word.
I need to go outside for a bit and give my wife a hand with something or other, so will sign off for now Eric.... look forward to hearing from you again, as you're able to.... okay?
Just know that you Will Be (and Are, Now) in our prayers continuously.
I pray Num.6:24-26 (the Aaronic Blessing - in the OT.) over you and yours every day.
May the peace of our Abba/father in heaven be with you Always. (no, that's Not the Aaronic blessing... just in case your not familiar with it).
In His Love,
Jim

Have all the airgunners left Missouri, or What?!? Its been just about 6 months now since Anyone has posted anything on here.... where is everyone? Is there ANYBODY in SW MO. that is seriously looking for others to shoot with?
Shooting by oneself is fine....for a while. I'm located in the area of Stocton Lake, about 4 miles west of it... anyone in the area at all who is really into the airguns and enjoys shooting with others, as I do?
Hello Maverick!
Sorry it has been so long! Life gets in the way, it seems. I am still in the area, but have not shot recently, unfortunately. I hope that you are doing well, and as soon as I get things line out with the new job (and used to working nights again) I will get in touch. Maybe we can get together and catch up a bit!

Might I suggest following the Arkansas gate? We do a couple of outdoor fun shoots per year (and starting some FT in December). It would be a little bit of a journey for you, but we're located 30 minutes from both OK & MO.

Hey Lobo!!..
My apology for not responding sooner... just haven't been on here for a while, not sure why(??)... just haven't been. Anyway.. Great to hear from you again, and good to know you're still around!! ;D
Yes, by all means... let me know when you have some free time and we will get together (weather permitting at this time of year, of course)... would be great to "catch up" and maybe do some shooting.
I haven't been doing much shooting of late, myself.... and no excuse for it as I have a range (up to 45 ft) in my basement to shoot when it's bad weather or in the winter.
I'm working on a couple of airguns right now... actually restoring them, one belongs to a friend of mine.. he got it down in TX... it's a Falcon pcp in .22 cal (made in England up until just recently... it was left outside or in a flood... or ???... not well taken care of, anyway. The other one is a Diana 54 (.177) in about the same shape which he got with the Falcon and FOUR others for... $30.!!!.... so that should tell you something about the overall condition of them. :'( lol
Well, I have to get up EARLY in the morning and head to work... won't be back til Thursday night or Friday morning sometime... so will check to see if you replied to this when I get back.
Talk to you soon,
Jim
PS; What is your new job?

Hello, and thank you for your reply.
I will do that.... though I do get emails from "Doc" (Arnold) and he keeps me posted on what's going on.... yes, unfortunately it's a bit of a drive down there and we (my wife and I) have yet to make it to one of the outdoor shoots. I know where they meet on Wed. nights.... and my work takes me down they on a daily basis - when I am at work... I haul feed corn down there to Tyson, Georges & Cargill... but it's all a matter of timing for me, and so far..it has not worked out for me to be there, even though I have frequently been "in town"... either at Georges or at Cargill (just up the road on 412)... but have usually been waiting in line to get unloaded, which sometimes can be several hours and by the time I'm done there, it's either too late or just around the time you guys are about to wrap things up for the evening. :(
I will be hauling down there for the next two or three days, starting in the morning, tomorrow (Wed.)... and if I remember correctly, I think you guys have a shoot tomorrow night... will have to check my email again from Arnold, and if so I will bring one of my 10M rifles with me... just in case it works out for me to be able to join you's... would be fun. You folks are blessed down there to have an active group to shoot with... in 2.5 years here, since I bought our house... I have only met and shot with ONE other airgunner, just one time... and he lives over an hour away in Springfield. We probably could have shot more often, but my schedule hasn't worked out real well to get there... and the times I do go to Springfield.. my wife is usually with me and we're on a "shopping mission" and we kill the whole day doing that and leaves me no time to meet up with this other guy to do any shooting together.... Ohhhh, Well.
Thanks again and say "Hi" to Arnold for me... thanks!

Good morning, Maverick!
Glad that you are doing well! It sounds like you are keeping busy, also!!
My new job is at the drinking water treatment plant in Nevada MO. I have been studying for my Class D license, and just bought a house.
Also been trying to spend a day a week at Stockton Lake diving and keeping skills up to snuff. I will shoot you a text and let you know when I will be down next. Shooting for Friday, but gotta see how things shake out.
Take care, and I will talk with you soon!!

New to the forum, just getting my feet wet in the PCP field. Purchased a Benjamin Kratos in 22 cal., but havent had a chance to shoot it yet. I park myself up here in Jesse James country(Kearney Mo).

Terry, I too have a Benji Kratos... but I ain't in Misery. ;)

Seems to be a bummer but from my experience here in WI, fun events are few and far between, most are located near populated areas far away for my limited time to travel/ work in the seasons these events run, there have been some good fun shoot gatherings arranged and repeated all over, but the covid has dampened more of that happening for now.
PM some of the original or closer to you responders to this thread, and see if there are any who may be wanting to start something up sooner than later ;)
There was a fairly active field target informal setting at a local sportsman's club that was a great time but the c19 and some range issues to solve put a damper on that >:(

Hoosier Daddy its nice to hear from someone with the Kratos, it was either that or the Akela but I liked the stock and 480cc tank of the Kratos better. I hope it lives up to all of the reviews that I have set and watched over and over. By the way you are about 2.5 hours north of our youngest , he lives in Lafayette, beautiful country there. I will have to fill you in on how mine does, I put a 8-32 Mueller on it.

Thought id chime in. Just getting into airguns. Almost setup to start shooting but waiting on an adapter for fill probe. Live in southwest missouri, around the springfield area. Hope to do my 1st airgun squirrel hunt in 3 weeks with my kids in the Mark Twain. But would love to find some others that are into airguns in the area. Possibly even attend some airgun get togethers.

I'm in the KC area and I'll be doing some hunting and shooting around here. I don't know of any events, but I'll check in if I hear of anything.

Will do, my folks live near St.Joe and my dad just bought the same Diamondback after shooting a few with mine. I'm interested in setting something up just for some plinking if no real event makes an appearance. I'm working on a reactive target system and I want to see how it works...
