Title: Best Fittings Day Tripper
Post by: YEMX on May 02, 2019, 01:10:26 PM
I ordered a Day Tripper valve assembly from Best Fittings UK a while back- not even sure how long ago.

Anyhoo, the plan was to put the fill valve on a CF 68 cu in 4500 psi paintball tank to use as a field tank.  Small field tanks like this were going for a pretty chunk- nearly $400 at the time.  Maybe the prices are lower now- not sure.  I assembled this set up for under $300.

I have a second valve assembly to make an even smaller travel tank for pistols.  I think I'll use a 500cc 4500 psi CF tank.  Or maybe a 48 cu in 4500 psi tank.  Not quite sure yet.  I'm leaning towards the buddy bottle though.

There is a push button bleeder valve, and it functions fine, not too stiff either.  The line is short, so not too much wasted air when filling.  You will have to get a quick connect with male threads though, so remember to add one when you order.  I happen to have one in my parts bin, but I'll have to get one for the other valve assembly.

Overall, I like this little valve assembly.  The field tank is much handier than the Great White I have (no, I'm not getting rid of it, I LOVE my Great White and am thinking of getting a second one!), and it was assembled for much less than what is available commercially.  Not knocking them- this is just a cheaper option for those that have a way to fill your own tanks.  I just thought y'all would like another option for air in the field.

I have one of those too Tom, really handy if I just want to go and shoot a session in the backyard.  The push button bleed is functional, but is a bit hard to push once pressurized.  Makes a good loud PHFFF so be prepared!  Was $120 shipped iirc.

Oh I know!   ;D  It startled me, since today was the first time using it...  I don't find the button too hard to push, but considering there's 3k psi or so in the line, that's not unexpected.  Yeah, it's $99 before shipping- but I think you're right- $120 with shipping.  I think I might get a tank cover for it.  Not sure yet.  I wish those 500cc buddy bottle tanks were more popular in paintball, I'd like to get a neoprene tank cover for one, but no one makes it...  I may just have to make my own.

I think there is a kit that replaces the push button with a screw type bleed valve.  Dang early onset arthritis giving me grief, so may be why it is hard to push for me.   :-\

I'm fine with the set up for now, but I just wish there were a gauge on the valve to show tank fill...  That's about the only thing I'd change with this valve.  Other than that, for the price its fine.

Yes, agreed.  It is cumbersome plugging the line and opening the valve, then pressing that button  ;)  but I am happy with it.
