Title: Need help with some accuracy problems.
Post by: bantam5s on May 01, 2019, 08:37:51 PM
This is driving me crazy, and i don't know if it's me , the scope, me and the scope, the gun, or all 3.
I'm shooting my custom shop 1300kt " American boy " with a scope for now till my Williams peep comes in and the accuracy is driving me crazy.
I really don't use scopes so I don't know if it's the cheap Centerpoint scopes fault or something else.
Here's 3 groups at 10 yds with 3 pumps.

I was shooting rested, and using it's favored pellet out of everything I've got.
I'm inclined to think I'm not looking through the scope consistently every time or something but I just do not know.

Maybe clean and polish the barrel?

Maybe clean and polish the barrel?
I recrowned it, and cleaned it out if that's what you mean.
It doesn't seem too dirty inside.

Moving your eye position can change the apparent position of the reticle with non parallax adjustable scopes.  If yours is not an adjustable objective scope (you can focus it for different distances), you could be having this problem.  Most Non AO scopes have a specific range at which they have no parallax, and it's usually more than ten yards.  You can tell if you have parallax if moving your eye position causes the reticle to move relative to the target.

You can always use this problem as justification to buy a really nice scope.  ;D

That would justify a nice scope for sure, I just don't do scopes and have a Williams wgrs54 peep sight on it's way for this gun.
I'll have to see if it's a parallax issue , maybe clamp it aimed at a small dot and see what happens if I move my head.

From a picture, it look like your POI is shifting up-left.

How you release a trigger after shot? If it is too soon (quick), this might happen.

I had a similar problem, I was not even aware of it. I noticed it after I store camera while recording was still on (forgot to swich it off), so it continue to record me.
Old habbit from army, when I was shooting automatic weapons in short brusts. Trigger have to be released quickly to shoot about 3 bullets only in automatic mode.

After I worked little bit on, not to release the trigger quickly, POI shifting up-left stop.

I actually haven't payed attention to this, but I'm pretty sure I've been practicing decent follow through.

My peep sight is at the post office and sorting is complete, so I'm just waiting for them to put it in my box and I'll have it today.
