Title: Bad JSB 18.1's?
Post by: Cjs180 on April 21, 2019, 08:49:20 PM
Yesterday while shooting at 25 yards I was putting 5 pellets in one hole.  Opened a new tin of pellets and the groups opened up to over an inch and they were a bit high.  Grabbed some JSB hades and those made pretty much a ragged 1 hole group. Could I have a bad tin of pellets? Pellets were just purchased from PA.

You never know what you're going to get these days but JSB is basically the best out there if you're buying rather than casting.

i've had tins that shoot poorly. typically, for me, it was tins that seemed to have a thicker skirt, but closer inspection showed it was actually slightly curl, giving the appearance of thickness.

i keep those for velocity testing, and don't bother trying to hit things with them.

Recently, someone here mentioned that the newer JSB 15.89gr’s inside skirt had changed so I checked my newly purchased ones from PA and lo and behold, yup, they were different but my POI did not change in my PCP’s. Maybe the 18.13 have changed too? The persons POI changed but was shooting out of a springer.

Who sells the air arms version of JSB? I have never tried them.  The JSB 15.x shoot good through my gun but I can normally stack the 18.1's at 35 yards.

It's not a huge deal as I have a 25 marauder on the way and 4 tins of JSB 25's ;D  However my daughter likes to shoot and was extremely disappointed when she could not show off for the family this weekend.  The new hades do shoot well enough that she should be happy.

My 9 year old daughter is new to shooting and thinks anything outside of the black 1/2" circle is bad at 25 yards.  High standards!

I'm going to call PA tomorrow as the ones I bought are not worth shooting.

I get The Air Arms from PA also.
It's where I get mine and currently says they're pre-order but if you want some you can try Jeff at Trenier Outdoors, $7.49 a tin:
