Looks like NOS, or close to it? Seller described it as, " New-Other"? It looks to be in great shape. Pumps and shoots hard too. Came with original box and papers as well. But the manual clip shown as coming with is missing. Gotta pick up a pack of'em. Anyway, It wasn't cheap with the excited bidding going on at the last. $119.80 was the final price + shipping. But it's in VGC, looking like new, barely used or close to that...

Looking at the serial number of O01139494, it looks like a build date of October '01?

NOS=New Old Stock

Yeah, that's what NOS stood for in my day. I thought there was a chance that's what the seller meant? Not being aware of an antiquated colloquial? Odd how Crosman charged only $5.59 for 4 manual clips for this 760-B, but charged $10.31 UPS ground to ship it? Can't shoot these things without the clip. But they'll sure make loading under a scope easier! The next win I have coming in Monday is in the same kind of printed box, but another special version of the 760-B. It's on it's way north from SC now. This one is from Aridzona.

I DO enjoy using the clips in these guns. I thought the same thing about shipping when I bought more.

Yup! And check closely at the muzzle inside the barrel if there's rifling, my '99 has an original riffled barrel, you never know ;)
Nice score BTW, very clean gun!

I'll have to give it a look? My 760-D 4/98 has a rifled barrel that Jeff passed on to me. I wanna buy a bunch of Winchester 4x32AO scopes and Weaver mounts for the other 760's. They focus down to 5yds.
-
When they went with the clips in '01 they went smooth bore. I as well like the pellet clips but they're usually on Amazon or walmart for $5 for the 4 pack with free shipping just so you know... I've probably got 20 of the clips scattered around the place, that said I need to get my hopped up Recruit up to snuff with some better O rings... it shot pretty hot at 750fps at 10 pumps and at 15 pumps you got a second shot at around 500fps...
For the barrel you can go with a M4-177 barrel or MK177 barrel which are still available I believe so you get rifled, and if it was me other than trying to keep a boxed gun stock I'd throw a Recruit/66/Torrent tube and linkage in it to get some more pressure...
-
Thanks for the tips, ranger. A buddy of mine put the butt stock and pump tube from an old 66 on a 760 and got the same results. I also noticed the slider clips are different from the '01's back to the AIR17's.
-
I thought they were the same other than 5 shot instead of 4 shot or something? not that I have an AIR17 to look at or anything...
-
I did, but I gave it back to my son.

Neat fine, Leonard! I'm also looking for a nice rifled barrel for my old 760 and Scott is mentioning an M4-177 or the MK177 barrel, I suppose from Crosman. Are we sure these are drop-in replacements, or do we have to machine them to fit? I also suppose we'd buy theses barrels directly from Crosman?
-
Nice find Leonard.... just remember, if you take it out and shoot it, it's no longer NOS.... ;)

I installed an M4-177 rifled barrel in one of my clip-fed 760. No mods needed to install it, it's a drop-in replacement. On the older ''open breech'' (not clip-fed) 760, it won't work, they're not the same design. Only thing to consider is that the M4-177/MK177 barrels don't have the front sight flat machined, so if you want to use the original front sight you'll have to file or machine a flat for it. HTH.

Thank you Happymechanic for the info. I think I'm still out of luck, mine is a 1976 "self-cocking" smooth bore model with no clip. When I use JSB 8.44 pellets, the accuracy is not awful. It'll hit a feral soda can at 20 yards almost every time.
Have you shot yours yet, Leonard? Are you going to use it or hold on to it?

Yes I am and no, I haven't. Can't shoot outside around here, darn it. And stairwell is in the middle of the basement. Besides being colder than a root cellar down their and damp.

I feel your pain! My shooting's now reduced to pretty much indoors, when the rest of the tenants are gone. The ones that just moved over us are home most of the time.
I count my blessings when they're gone for a bit!!

Yeah, and the wife doesn't wanna move anymore. I wanna make like a heard of pigeons and get the flock outta here! Hate HOA's and this everything's against the law stupid nosey yuppie infested area!

I may have to "join" the local Range, to be able to shoot.
I enjoyed not having to pay to shoot, or have to drive somewhere....
And NOT having to wear hearing protection!

Yeah. Gun Hub is a couple miles around the block from me, I have no car, and its some 16 bucks a pop per day. I'm retired and can't afford to blow that much money.
