OK, Al just called me and said the NOE copy of the prototype Accurate 36-168J is up in the store.
This is a limited production run and he does not know when he will be able to run another batch.
Here is the link to the bullet web page.

By my count the Accurate 36-168J has been shot with very good to excellent accuracy in 11 rifles so the NOE 358-152-HP should do so as well (if cast with quality to begin with)
It is 152gr estimated with pure lead but with 1:40 or 1:30 tin it would of course be lighter then that.
-
Shooting yesterday and the guy I was with was getting 1/2" at 100 yards with some of these I cast.
Not all targets, after checking his sight-in we were shooting a legal pest control of an invasive species at mixed ranges from 80 to 140 yards. Of course a .357 is massive Overkill on a bird but it's 'instant' red mist and no question on the success of the hit.
As usual, NOE molds are quality and this new one is perfect, I almost hated to start using it it was so pretty. This is the first one I ever had drilled for the temperature probe, I found that my normal casting kept me right where I should be but it will be useful to confirm that. Going to order all my molds with this option from now on just so it will be available if I need it in casting some day.

Will this prove to be more accurate than the Accurate mold that you had Hollowpointed? I was a bit cautious so I went your route Carl. Should have waited and saved a hundred bucks.
-
It should be just as accurate but since there were a couple of small changes it will have to be tested in more rifles again to be definitive. That's just a CYA but I believe it will be just as good if not better.
I can say that the first comparison test was yesterday and the new NOE's shot the same as the Accurates he had shot previously in that rifle.
Just checking zero on the rifle we shot three five shot groups on the regulator and off sandbags and all three were less than 1 MOA. One group was 1/2"! I've had CF rifles that could not do 1 MOA on their best day so I think this is pretty D awesome!
I did not cast these, I dropped the new mold off to him and he cast n sized and we used the shock oil for lube.
Added: the rifle is a .357 Texan with a tapered chamber and a TalonTunes carbon fiber bottle and using 3400 PSI. He borrowed my Athlon BTR 6-24x50 APMR FFP IR MIL to mount on it. Love the recticle and this is the scope that's going on my Slayer when it finally arrives

Just ordered the mold so I can compare side by side to the Accurate in the Slayer.
-
I think the people who buy the mold will like the bullet. Only 9 were made so later there will be those who wished they did grab one.
I plan to use the Accurate 36-168J casting in tin for some specialty shooting and use 1:40 lead for the NOE 358-152-HP-CF4 for regular target and hunting.
Update - I got called and told this evening that today my friend went out with his Bulldog (DIY Pitbull / PCPhack mods) to the range and got 1" groups at 100 yards with some of the same batch of bullets that he had shot previously in his Texan.

So you're saying that this is not now available... :-\

How did you get that?
All you have to do is follow the NOE link and see what quantities they have left. Last I checked there were some molds left of the batch made.
They are not all gone YET, but sooner or later they will be.

Mine shipped out yesterday. Looking forward to receiving it.

Mine are casting between 147 to 148gr so the weight is very nice I think, should get a good balance of FPS/FPE vs the lighter or heavier slugs.
I was casting 1:40 alloy at 800 degrees but I think it needs just a touch more to get good HP pin tip fill out. Or I need more heat in the pins... one nice thing about the bar system that Eric at Hollowpoint has is they get hot and stay hot like a heat sink, the NOE RG system with the tilting pins needs a hotter mold it seems.
You will have to (quickly) cast some and shoot them for our edification! {Since I only have a.357 FLEX and Pitbull to shoot...........still waiting on the Slayer}
-
As of this evening, one left.
Why is no one buying nose punches? Sizing by nose punch leaves a sharper edge to clear the muzzle and hence a fraction better accuracy. Base rams push the bullet through and leave a tiny bit of displaced metal where the biggest OD stops and rebates to the smaller shank (or around the edge of a flat based bullet)
-
I will only use a top punch with these. I didn't even order a push rod with this mould.
-
I ordered one 3 days ago , it only showed one then, might not be one left after all , I ordered the top punch too, got a shipping notice yesterday
-
Mine casts slightly over. 358. My push rod displaces very little lead. They chamber like butter
-
Same smooth chambering for my FLEX+ and Pitbull, too.
I have to start taking pictures of targets... Last week shooting this bullet I shot 3 shots with the FLEX that was one hole at 50 yards, refilled and shot another two into the same hole then the last shot was a flier and openned group up to 5/8. I claim responsible because it was one of those "this does not feel right, I'm moving too much, let off the trigger pressure" when it fired times.
Problem is, who's proud of a group that big because fliers count so I didn't bother to save the target.

Carl, I see Mike1962 is having his Slayer shipped Monday

Carl, I see Mike1962 is having his Slayer shipped Monday
I had not heard/read anything about that...
How did he find out? Did they send him a shipping notice?
I wonder how long he has waited?
Tom told me it was first ordered, first shipped as they were finished when we talked when I added the barrel lapping but although I wanted to ask questions I did not want to be a pest and say "HOW SOON TILL YOU'RE DONE WITH MINE????????? sort of thing.
-
I received my mold today will try to cast up some bullets this weekend so I can try them out next week. Thanks for the link and info on the mold.
-
Carl, Check out the Slayer group posts on GTA

Yah, I used to check that section once a week from Dec'18 up till around Febuatty but quit because nothing much happens.
More going on at the Big Bore and Casting, that I check daily, haha

Very nice. Once I figure out what my new gun will be I may have to get me one.
