What is your favorite shop, yard ,pickup gun? This would not be a high end type gun but a gun you don,t have much money in it but have done some mods possibly, added some parts from surmised parts box, cameo paint job with left over house project paint. I have several of these Bull Durnam type guns. The cheaper the better because it will be by your work bench, on your garden tractor, behind the seat of your truck..these most likely have never been in a case either but when that starling lands in your fig tree or that rotten ground squirrel that's been chewing on your truck wires shows up it's ready to go. Just picked up an old (pristine) JC Higgins (Crosman 140) at an estate auction for $35. Got it today and dropped in a little 30 weight on the wiper. Darn thing pumps right up. I shot about 50 (22) pellets through it. I think it will soon be my favorite garage plinker!!!!!
-
My Crosman 2100 117cal pumper. I picked this one up for $39 on a Cyber Monday sale.
It has a small CV Life 4x Mil Dot Scope mounted on it. I did a barrel mod to secure the floating barrel.
Light Weight, Quick Handling, Quiet & Deadly accurate out to 30 yards. Many a Gray Squirrel has fallen to this little gem of a rifle.
This gun loves Cheap Crosman Pointed Pellets.
Best Wishes - Tom

Good job, that's the kind of examples I wanted everyone to share. Mike
-
My Crosman 1377 pistol. I picked this one up on a clearance sale for $13 at a local Walmart.
I did a mod to secure the rotating barrel. I mounted a $10 clearance priced Open Reflex Sight on the secured barrel with odds & ends that I had.
This pistol loves Cheap Crosman Pointed pellets too and is a back-up to my Crosman 2100.
This bad little boy is deadly accurate from zero to 15 yards and has taken it's share of small game.
Best Wishes - Tom

Pretty much pristine, 1986 Racine 342 I got off of Craigslist for $60.00 + $10.00 shipping. I've added a Williams peep since this pic.

This "87 Crosman 781 is my most recent project gun and has been my favorite plinker.
The goal was a low powered indoor plinker and it has been perfect for this, getting most of my attention with the bad weather we were having.
It's no Olympic target rifle but it keeps 'em pretty tight inside 10yds.

I've got $45 in the gun itself, $15 for the rifled barrel and I think $20 something in the Daisy target sights.

My shop arsenal 760 metal/plastic, roadside find AFIN, scratched up bent and straightened barrel, cheap scopegreat Hosp gitter.
Benjamin Genesis NP .22 CP 4-16 AO scope, has dusted a bunny @ 85 yards :o
P-17 x2 one with red dot, one open sights for them mice and indoor Hosp etc.
Ruger Impact max de-tuned a little, 740 FPS 14.5 gr. Open sights for trapped pest and plinking mostly.
-
Am I bad or what. Did not Evan mention my shop guns. Open sighted modified to the max Daisy 880 open sighted. Next Ruger Impact Max with Center Point AO scope. Rounding my group 392 Benjiman with my own valve and other mods with Williams peep without appreture. The new F4 when I am done with my mods will also be added. The 880never comes in the house. It's shooting the new Winnie domes pretty good right now. Sparrow killing machine from 0 to 20 yards. Mike

1322 pistol, I put a long steel breech and LPA rear sights on,...it's my frogs gun :)
-
Plastic fantastic 08 760. Left outside for two months an asked my bro if I could have it.
-
Mines a sportsman 900 multi pump. Picked up a refurb for $30. Have a Barska 4x32 scope mounted. Keep it by the back door for any unwanted critters that come up on the back deck.
-

Now I didn’t see that one coming. Makes total sense too. Now frogs at night with with 1322 would be fun.
-
My 1322 carbine is fun little shooter, great for small game and rats to.
I have the 6x scope and a Red dot for it.
-
Couple older plastic 760 pumpers hang in my shop. One is strictly bbs and the other has a 5 pellet clip and NCStar compact scope and is very accurate in the shop. Multi pump makes them very adjustable for the task at hand whatever that may be.
I live in the damp and humid back woods of lower Alabama... I rarely venture out of the house without some sort of side arm.

Frogs on Oahu? More invasive exotics, I assume.

I knew as soon as I read the first post the 13xx pistols would be the most common Every-Day Gun.
Mine is split between my own 1377 and my 2400KT when it's warmer, though I've decided I need a proper .22 pumper beside my 392, so I'm thinking a 1300KT with a stubby LW barrel is in my near future.
-
Figured pumpers would rank high on the list. Mike
-
Let's add top problem species along with the guns. I have two. Eurasian doves and starlings. Mike
-
I guess Pistol PP700 sa .22 and for rifle Gamo Swarm Maxxim .22 both are fairly inexpensive platform and both have good accuracy out of the box as an aside the Maxxim is getting better with age. I am now killing soda cans at 40+ yards shooting offhand ;D ;D
-
Two guns come to my mind the Daisy 880 and the 1322

Yes, Cane toads
terrible buggers and you can't even eat them.
-
I really like my 2240. It does have some upgrades, I'm installing a hdd now.
Cane toads? Yuck. Do you have a thread on that?
-
Another favorite would be a kit I put together with an SPA CP-1 and the Master Blaster stock set.
-
Bill,
That is a sweet looking pistola & carbine! I really like the pistol grip end cap is removable and stock mounts to the pistol end cap.

Thanks Randy... I love the little warm weather kit. I had a great UTG 4x32 AO scope in the kit but robbed it for another gun.

Daisy 856 with "Guns by Bubba" hose clamp barrel shroud tensioner, and delrin high front sight to match the rear daisy adjustable peep.
Someone messed up the barrel shroud so I had to clamp it via hose clamp. I secured the muzzle end of the pencil barrel with some tubing and it is accurate. Took a starling with it the other day.

Here is another. "Shop Gun" of mine...... My B-3 " The Junk Yard Dog " ;D
This is a shop gun if there ever was one ....and it is... Seriously Accurate out to 30 Yds.
The temps have been at or above 32 F this week and I have lost about 22 inches of snow.
My targets have all Magically appeared out of the snow bank.
To celebrate the warm weather and my good fortune I broke out the B-3 and did a little off-hand shooting.
Here are some spinner hits that I did with it today... the hits were all in the high center of the orange spinner.
The shots were at 25 Yds. No Wind & the Temp was +32 F.
The Pellets were Daisy 7.2 Pointed Pellets. This gun likes it's pellets..Cheap & Nasty ;D
Best Wishes - Tom

Really enjoying the posts. Thanks for the response let's keep it going. Shot one of my older shop guns this weekend and just can,t get it to shoot like I want. It's the legacy pump with a metal 2100 clamshell receiver. It will remain in shop and when I have spare time it will get torn apart to see if I can figure out the problem. Mike

Looks pretty fun. Those B-3s scare my fingers. Too many "Example" pics when I first learned about springer safety.

mav :
The B-3 is a junk yard dog.......it'll bite you.. if you are not careful with it.
I have a short 3/4 hex bolt that I can drop in, for a mechanical block, to prevent any chopped fingers.
If you hang on to the cocking handle you are safe too.
Best Wishes. - Tom

Hatsan Edge .25 cal springer. Think it was about $90 after discounts and Bullseye bucks. Tuned and now rides in a Webley Spector stock I had sitting in the corner. Painted satin black, Testors model paint for the grey accents, couple coats of Duplicolor clear truck bed liner for whatever abuse it might take and a Vokul holographic red dot sight.
-
This is my 1322 carbine. It hangs next to my back door with a tin of CPHP. Used for starling duty.

LOL.... I named mine "FooManChew".
-
Just depends...I usually grab a pistol for backyard target shoot. If plugging backyard pigeons I'll grab something in the 7 -20 fpe range.

LOL.... I named mine "FooManChew".
Lol I get it. Fitting names for both.
I mentioned a week and a half ago that I went to visit a pellet shooting booth at a fishing show. The young man had a "trusting" way of loading pellets in a break barrel. If he only knew they can "bite"... BUT I didn't want to tell him how to do his job.

I got this Cr 38T for $5 at a yard sale. It was REAL rough. Probably was rode hard and put away wet for awhile then spent a couple decades in a mouldy basement. Turned out to be a very early 1st var. with a brass valve. I took it apart completely. Cleaned everything. Then I stripped and repainted the frame with a metallic charcoal auto paint and did a complete reseal. The pistol grip anchor posts were both broken so I rebuilt them with Quick Steel. I don't like to alter vintage guns but this one really called for it.
-
Stuart that came out really nice looking! ;D
-
Thanks Wendell. Still too cold up here to try it out. :P
