Title: Daisy Powerline 990 I Just Got
Post by: LOKEY on March 08, 2019, 03:06:54 PM
I bought this at a yard sale (Yes it was cheap) I had never seen one before so it intrigued me. After researching it I see that Daisy got sued over these and only made them for 3 years. It needs resealed. The person at the yard sale dumped a bunch of oil in it trying to get it to work. I have read and watched a few videos on this and from what I have found out the best place for seals is the local paint ball supply. I guess the online kits use black seals that don't hold. We will see?

That is because it is dual power. You can pump it or use CO2

Yes! That’s why the thing looked familiar. My friend had one of those. We hardly used the co2 part because when you are a kid, money priority goes to the ice cream man.

It is sad that some little kids got a hold of one of these and killed a 10 year old. That is how daisy was sued. I think it is because you cant tell if it is loaded or empty. After inspecting it I agree. It is hard to tell if all of the bb's are out of it.

Intriguing. Sued for what?

They got sued because when using this gun you couldn't tell if it was empty or not. So they where held negligent in the death of a 10 tear old boy.  According to the kid that shot him he checked it to make sure it was empty before shooting him. He said he was just trying to scare him and did not know it was loaded and killed the boy. At least that is what I read. Anyway they quit making this rifle after that.

Yikes. So many things to be said about that, but I’d rather hold my breath. Unfortunate tho. Thanks

It is not a difficult gun to work on.......surprising considering it shoots with two different powerplants. It's been some years but I had not issues resealing the one that I had. As to oring composition, Viton and even buna, in a pinch, is fine for the internal orings. (seals that are permanently contained) Those would only seal better with absorbing some Co2. Piercing chamber orings need to be urethane. Wearablity is the only big consideration with the pneumatic (pressurized air) orings.
