So, this rifle has floated a bit in the group I shoot with. I recently acquired it from fellow shooter and GTA member. It’s left handed so I immediately wanted it but I also find it interesting because of the medallion inset into the stock. It’s from a shooting club in Germany and it’s to celebrate their 100 year anniversary. Pretty cool. Anyway, I disassembled, polished all things needing polished, new seal, buffer and spring. I stripped and refinished the beautiful walnut stock and am now enjoying its fantastic engineering.
Without further ado,

Higgy 8),
Another beauty ... can you insert a better pic?
Kirk

I’ll try Kirk. If you click on the pic they improve a bit but let me see what I can do. I’m currently manning a hot bbq grill so it may take a bit... 8)

nicely done!

Nice job. I have and shoot a couple LH 300's, fantastic rifles.

Very nice job, I wish I could do that kind of wood work my 300s needs refinish.

Lovely. :-*
I like that it has some patina... ;)

Purdy! How's it shoot???

That's a beautiful rifle. I've been wanting to own one of my own for years. One day...

Outstanding job Mr. T. I think it's safe to say, "it's floating days are over".

So far so good. It’s shooting fairly hot. I ran a few superdomes across the chronograph last night and they are moving at 610 FPS for just under 7 FPE. Rested and using the diopter sight, it’s pellet on pellet for sure. I’ll use it at the ten meter shoot next week and get a good idea of how accurate it is....and how accurate I’m not...

I would love to hear about the details of the rebuild, if you care to share them. I just picked up a FWB 300 and it appears to be a bit tired. Velocity with Crosman 7.9 grain pellets ranges from 360 to 430 fps and I wonder if my sledge system is working properly. Hope to hear more!

Sorry Steve, I didn’t see your post. I sent you several helpful links for parts and how to. Let us know how yours goes.

I’ll also mention that I was in a friendly ten meter match yesterday. Of the three matches, I shot 50 in all three, one was a clean 50 which got me into the shoot off with 3 other shooters and I won the shoot off. Oldest rifle there and the only one not using a scope. These guns are fantastic.

One day... I’ll have one. I have a spot reserved just for it.

Wow, nice job! I hope to have one of these gems someday too.

Thanks Scott, not bad for a rifle made 48 years ago (1971). :D

So nice when these alte Frau still hold their own to the new kids.
... and yours is about 10 years older than mine!
After mine was restored, the one thing I did was get an rail mount bipod for it.
This (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Match-Competition-Training-Rifle-Ground-Display-Mini-Bipod-4-Anschutz-Rail-4770/172379659661?epid=1065550615&hash=item2822a0dd8d:g:T78AAOSwzaJYBn-C) $20 accessory was well worth the money. Rubber feet keep it from sliding around on the bench as well as a shooting aid. When it is on, the bottom tip of the butt pad is the only contact point so it also protects the rifle.

Great shooting! The 300S is a great rifle. It is such fun to pull off a victory with minimalist equipment. Your buddies will always be watching you out of the corner of their eyes. I really enjoy the simplicity of shooting my 300S.

Good work, Tim, and good shooting! The FWB300 found the right home!
-
Congratulations on your winning the friendly match. I'm sure that it was most rewarding with a vintage air rifle that you overhauled yourself. The parts I need for my FWB 300 (1969 vintage) have been ordered from the sources you recommended. I will be very pleased if my rifle performs as well! Thanks for the help!
-
These guns are capable. I have won two fun off hand 10M matches with mine shooting against some very expensive PCP rifles.

Absolutely beautiful! Very nice acquisition!
